Survey research on public views of science & environment; climate change; human/environment interactions; society in the Arctic. Also walking my dog through the woods, and gazing at the night sky. All graphs & photos are my own unless otherwise cited.

I've lived in rural (and urban-ish) North Louisiana going on 15 years. Mostly deep red, pockets of light blue. I've not seen people organize around any issue like the data centers. They won't beat Amazon's and Meta's money in the short term, but they're ripe for mobilization.

I’ve been screening our documentary with organizing communities in the South. So far, the organizers mention data centers first at every single event. From racial justice orgs to old school activists who don’t usually think about tech policy. This has legs.

Kyiv. The smell of last night’s attack is in the air. I’m making warcoffee. Reading the news. Warehouses belonging to civilian businesses were on fire. A railway station in the Kyiv region was hit. People were killed.

Partisanship has made the confirmation process useless, particularly when the President's party controls the Whitehouse and the Senate acts more as a rubber stamp with some performative hazing.

I should be clear that the architecture of Bluesky makes it the social media place I most like to be. I'm not on social media to be an influencer or instigator; I want to hang out with folks and have an enjoyable time. This place delivers on that. I hope it continues to do so for a long time.

The people who falsely accused an Olympian of vandalizing the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool are the same people telling you to trust them about the war with Iran

7 mo into Covid-19 after grueling 24hr caring for child with the disease, who survived. Showered at hosp, returned to office & informed staff, wasn't retiring the next mo, as had planned. Photo of that moment. This is my "diary". Nobody can change the reality of pandemic for those who lived it...

BROWDER: Basically, Putin and every single person who serves in Russian government do it for money. The higher you are, the more money you make. There's not a single person who ever goes into public service to serve public of Russia. It's one big kleptocracy, a criminal machine.

So many sneering elitist journalists with snarky posts over the past months that the Reflecting Pool story was trivial. It was so trivial that the DC US Attny presented false evidence to a grand jury to indict an innocent man to please the President while they both lied about it.

Holy shit! Jim Jordan is reduced to stammering when Kasie Hunt presses him on why he continues to support Max Miller despite credible allegations that he abused his ex-wife and toddler daughter

The individual in question is perceived as a detrimental figure to the American populace and should be removed from office promptly through appropriate measures.

According to the latest Fox News poll, if the election were held today, we would own the House and the Senate, so let’s make sure we’re all registered and vote big in November!

Flock cameras’ days are numbered. Across the country, communities are removing them city by city. Thank you to everyone who is standing up, speaking out, and fighting back against their expansion. Here’s the cities that have fought back and won! Denver CO, Austin TX, San Marcos TX, Evanston IL,
