Most folks don't realize how central events like J6 were to the Jim Crow state. Dozens of unprosecuted coups & massacres—actively encouraged by those in power—revived the fundamental logic of the pre-emancipation state: that Black Americans had "no rights which the white man was bound to respect."

The problem with Texas (as a Texan), is Ds have to win a plurality of Latino, White, and Black votes. As it stands, Crockett is winning the Black vote up 45 and east, while Talarico is winning White plains and Latinos along the border. Still too early but Dallas (and the missing votes) will be key.

I come from a family of educators, and my concern for my students, my partner’s students, and their families is chronic every school year. It does not have to be this way. It’s a choice.
