The mechanical workings of computers should be taught in K12 it's so confusing to understand or explain computers without that basic knowledge.
Notably, if the problem had been genuinely "cracked" there would be nothing to "kill", because the algorithmic solution would directly be part of shared scientific knowledge, as for hundreds of other problems solved. Reminds me of how @olivia.science notes that AI systems aren't 'algorithms'
You tell me about how language determines thoughts and there's this thing called linguistic relativity or how people speaking this or that language can't see green and we'll part ways: you to eternity and me to prison.

Tried to do this exactly once back in 2024 when I was hard pressed for a deadline, physically&mentally falling apart; all I got was a wasted ½hr as I tried to get the LLM to spit out something useful, and the painful realisation that I could've used that ½hr to rest & then do the job properly...

So happy to finally share the news that my book, “A History of Uncertainty: Science between the Ottoman Empire and Early Modern Europe,” will be out in Spring 2027 by the University of Pittsburgh Press. I still can't believe it's now beyond my hands and on its way to meeting its readers.

It's basically everything we talk about re: "AI" in scare quotes, but in a condensed, well written, evidenced form, which you can point to. A bit like a cordial. The Ribena paper.
