Maybe you think you are invulnerable to this (you are not), but the people who stay in Twitter because you are still sharing there are definitely being dragged to the right. I have so many mutuals who are still posting regularly there, and it's so disheartening to see. Please stop.
Evidence is already accruing that spending time on Twitter pulls ppl to the right, bc the algorithm feeds you horrible stuff. And again: academics are likely more vulnerable, bc they convince themselves they are less.
I wanted to create a blog post about how ChatGPT (or AI chatbots in general) are terrible at providing guidance when it comes to a niche subject like console hacking. Nintendo Homebrew on Discord has seen a few instances of people bricking their 3DS because of it.
But in order to do this right, I would need to find examples of what ChatGPT is giving people. This means I'd need to directly use ChatGPT, which kinda makes me uncomfortable because I have a strong distaste for generative AI.
I don't know if I should acknowledge that using it bad and use it anyway, write a blog post without knowing the details (which wouldn't be useful), or just don't do it at all. (Alternatively, I could try to find prompts and results given by these people, but they don't always post the details.)

TCRF’s anti-AI measures have inspired me to implement similar checks and blocks for the wikis that I host.
I decided to disable pull requests on most of my repositories. I've finally accepted the fact that I am allowed to have control over my own projects without wanting anyone else to push code into them. I am not good at handling pull requests, especially if I have to say no to them.
I also want to avoid poisoning them with anything that could be AI-generated. I am very uncomfortable with the possibility that someone will slip in something regurgitated by the theft machine.
I know living a truly 100% free AI slop life is nearly impossible (a dependency of one of my projects might accept slop contributions), but I do not have to accept it. It's not the future, it's not inevitable, it's not here to stay.
Yes, that's why I'm upset that the Animal Crossing GCN PC port used it. Code shouldn't be treated differently to artwork, videos, music, writing, or anything else created by humans.
Generative AI is a fundamentally bad and destructive technology that has absolutely no beneficial uses that don't outweigh its massive negatives. The world would be better if it was completely obliterated. If we lived in a world that respected art, it would not exist.
Maybe the port to Switch 2 will enable them to make an actual port to Apple Silcion Macs, now that the game is running on ARM64. (Fun fact: a port to Switch is also what enabled Factorio to get a native AS Mac port.)
What will happen to Final Fantasy XIV after Rosetta 2’s removal in macOS 28? Maybe they’ll depend on the thing intended for “older, unmaintained games”? Or will the Mac version be dropped? Or will they somehow make a real port?
Does anyone know why the SD Association seemingly deleted "SD Memory Card Formatter" from their website? The downloads page is a 404, and the direct download for Windows is also missing.

I think this year is when I need to realize that friendships can, more or less, just end, and they don't have to keep going. People who I would regularly talk with who just don't respond much, or at all, anymore.
I was always kind of disappointed when someone would stop talking at all to me, but maybe I just need to accept it and move on. I should realize when there is no more point in trying to reach out.

The year is 2050. The website formally known as Twitter has shut down. Millions of former users still visit daily to stare at a 404 page for hours on end.
please deprioritize twitter and use other social media
I hope all the cities ending their Flock contracts follow Verona's lead to force them to actually remove the cameras.
New video! We're talking about Sony ending physical media, and why it made me think of British supermarkets making cheese harder to get out of a packet. Watch here: youtu.be/IVlMdxuwVaY
