I'm @i_loathe_tweets at the other place.

Tangentially related to the 'Perfectly Plausible' Crooked Timber post, a good game for long car rides is 'how many __ does A think?', where A is asked some q like 'how many golfers are there in America?', thinks of an answer, then B & C try to guess the answer A has thought of. Closest wins.

The specifics of this situation are not in themselves funny, but you do have to pinch yourself sometimes to recall that the most successful party in the history of western democratic politics is happily allowing itself to be led into oblivion by this thundering moron who won by accident.

Conservatives challenged for selecting a man who formed a far right group + was jailed for serious antisemitic harassment of former MP Luciana Berger.Badenoch says he has reformed sufficiently to have a local candidacy, but should not have a national platform www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/kemi-b...

Just dreamed that Man United beat Burnley 15-4 on the opening day of the season. Burnley were managed by a dweeb with a high-pitched voice who was allergic to being at room temperature, and their goalie's name was Redtop Evans. Sad that Liddle gas passed away, think he'd have got a kick out of it.

I'm the guy in the Reform party policy team who was tasked with planning if we could win a war with France. I just told Zia Yusuf that we have more independent nukes than they do, just for a laugh, but I'm not sure he got it

Also notice here now this response was autonomic and universal, white blood cells swarming en masse to reject the foreign contamination. Not just the MPs but the assorted miasma of journalists, columnists and think tankers. The Court, basically, protecting its own.

Sure, but it was never a question of whether she was right or wrong. All the MPs and the press knew very well she was correct, because they see it all the time. The point was that some insolent upstart tree-hugger had no business running her big yapping mouth, where the public can hear. The end.

!! 'MPs have had their stomachs pumped.'
Turns out Hannah Spencer was right when she said that Westminster's drinking culture is "unprofessional and worrying" and leads to "questionable and dangerous behaviour"
¿ It's time to end Parliament's drinking culture.

Reading Jason Arday’s PhD thesis and there does seem to be some evidence of plagiarism. Alarm bells started ringing for me when he claimed that between the Manchu conquest in the mid-17th century and the peak of the Qing dynasty's power in the mid-18th there occurred an ‘administrative revolution’

mostly grateful that the average bluesky user totally lost the argument on covid after vaccines were rolled out & had a roadmap for returning to normality and living with covid they refused to entertain (while vilifying anyone who tried to ask for one) imposed upon them by those they had sneered at

Learning via the Pitchfork review of the new Strokes album that their most streamed track is not Last Nite but The Adults Are Talking because Gen Zers like its message

It's got to the level where the debate should be whether we just ban it in the UK and cancel all Musk's contracts with the UK government, or whether we also seek a warrant for extradition.
