Has he "entered the fray" or did someone ask him and he carefully hedged out a position on something he didn't know much about?
Incorrect, Zack. In-fucking-correct.

Historically, liberals have welcomed the promotion of the far-right within traditional right-wing parties, believing that this would make them unelectable. This was always a disastrous mistake. Nazis used any position ceded to them - even at the lowest level - to build support for fascist pogroms.
It probably won't happen but the prospect of Badenoch leading a Tory general election campaign is a joy. Every time she leaves X and enters the real world, she is hilariously inept and crass.
Still true btw for those who have an odd and totally not racist obsession with bringing up Dearborn or Uncommitted every day
Do centrist Dems realize that the incentive structure they're establishing by admonishing one of the few major Arab American figures who unequivocally endorsed Harris despite nothing being conceded on Gaza? The lesson for those Arabs will be to uh, not do that again.
This should be seen in its proper context. It’s long been normal for the press to treat far right crackpots and straight fascists as valuable authorities on extremism, and to present them to the public as anti-radicalisation and as antiracists. They’ve been doing it for at least ten years.
Hodges is an occasionally useful guy to keep an eye on, mainly because he’ll say things that his less stupid colleagues are smart enough to keep to themselves.
If you don’t like it, well, anyone is free to pay Tufton Street lobbying firms or the Tony Blair Institute to represent their interests, stoke up a series of national media panics and then force through whatever crazy measures they want. And what could be more democratic than that?
This is another way we live in rape culture; we live in a culture where we have to hear about monstrosity all the time. Sometimes I look at those top stories lists and wonder if I'm the only one who notices that two or three or four of the ten are about violence against women.
Here is the problem. Even if any of these people wanted to ignite the all channels screaming hate campaign against Badenoch over this, they wouldn't be able to get the rest of the lads to join in. And so they need to come up with some reason why not, that isn't "we only do that to left wingers."
Wild to see this lot have to thread this needle. How, indeed, have we got ourselves into a mess where an actual neo nazi who was imprisoned for harassing a Jewish Labour MP is not getting the all channels screaming headlines treatment as when, ten years ago, his actions could be blamed on the left?
The worst thing about this period is it's going to take fucking decades before enough of these people have died so we can say "isn't it crazy how so many finance guys got flim flammed by ai generated World Of Tomorrow renders?"
$SPCX - SPACEX PLANS MOON FACTORIES POWERED BY HUMANOID ROBOTS
He also "planned" a working moon mission by 2024 & we're still in the "sometimes it doesn't crash" stage of that process. Stop reporting on any tech bro CEO's claims as if they are facts, especially in outlets connected to our shared collective hallucination called "the economy". CONTEXTUALIZE SHIT.

what's "funny" is aipac probably would've ghosted stevens if she won, because then it'd be zionist vs zionist (rogers has taken half a million from aipac already) and it wouldn't have mattered that much to them who won. but now that it's AES vs rogers, they might double down on the general campaign.
Unfathomable
They could always sign up to give comment at a public meeting.
New York City’s business elites are long accustomed to direct access to City Hall, where even Democratic mayors felt the need to court the city’s wealthiest and most influential corporate leaders. That access is getting shredded by Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
all the people who are anti-cocaine or want to halt the cocaine import trade, i have one question: if cocaine disappeared tomorrow, could you still get through an entire workday? imagine cocaine suddenly vanished. would you actually be willing to give it up?
look, good, I'm glad that she is writing this & recognizes that we have to work together to win the Senate seat, but also it is pretty weird to run a race where you're like, "this guy SAYS he's a DOCTOR but he doesn't even PRACTICE MEDICINE" and then lose and be like, "yeah I guess he is a doctor"
A gracious concession: “I want to congratulate Abdul El-Sayed on winning the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate. He is a doctor, a community health official, a Rhodes Scholar, and a dedicated Michigander. I am proud to offer my support as he takes on Mike Rogers in the general election…
To explain for foreigners: our energy regulator rubber-stamps price rises; the water regulator tuts while rivers fill up with human shit; the press regulator wags an occasional finger, and the national equality body enforces press campaigns against groups of people they hate and wish to damage.
Britain, where the national equality body is a boobyhatch jam-packed with wingnut cranks who fervently believe their job is creating weapons for police to hammer minorities that the press hates and wants to harm.
It’s not that Britain doesn’t have regulators and other oversight bodies. We do have those. It’s that these are politicised bodies tasked with helping the right sort of chaps to get away with whatever horrifying shit they want to do this week, while providing a thin veneer of public accountability.

“There’s a difference between being let back into society and being allowed to stand for public office." How has Kemi Badenoch found herself in the surreal position of defending a convicted Neo-Nazi standing as a Tory councillor?
Rape is the central pillar of the right-wing agenda, the right to terrorize other people in the most intimate way possible.

i believe that framing vote counts as a real time game with swings and momentum is a direct product of how the 2000 election was handled by the media and eventually the supreme court
this is the thing that really bugs me about california's slow vote counting. reporters can't help but describe it in terms of momentum, when it's really scanning across a snapshot
Hard mode: do this but "medical technology" only counts as ONE better thing and you have to come up with 19 non-medical ones
If you can't instantly recognize 20 consequential things that are better today than 40 years ago you are a fucking child.
the republican party is full of domestic abusers, rapists, and other sickos who use the cover of christian faith to mask their deeply disturbed pathologies
Mike Johnson tells Politico that he's standing behind Republican Max Miller — despite the "serious" domestic abuse allegations against him.
this *should* be incredibly insulting, but. well.
The answer is, of course, that very little in British politics is actually real except for expediency and convenience. It’s not a double standard because *there are no standards*, and there are no rules that apply to everyone. There’s only ever what’s entertaining the lads this week.
Members of the public are fully entitled to ask why the entire national press - who went into an 18-month terrifying panic about racism and bigotry, squealing in pant-soiling terror that even a trace of prejudice in public life was utterly intolerable - can talk about this calmly like it’s no biggie
This is one of the better, more helpful newspaper podcasts and it’s striking they - like all of the lads - talk about Farage and Lowe without any squealing and writhing about the cancerous virus of race hate that must be ruthlessly eradicated, or about the legion of evil scum who support them.
This, while all the lads on the newspaper and magazine politics podcasts are talking about The Return Of Two-Party Politics as if it was a natural phenomenon and not a decision they have reached amongst themselves
I really wish people would get it through their heads that beyond a certain threshold, raising enormous amounts of money in a campaign offers, almost no marginal benefit per dollar. It just buys more ads, usually targeted at voters already saturated with ads.
