Rant ahead. Be warned. There is a prehistoric site in the hills about 5 miles down the road from me that I've never visited, so I thought I'd check it out and cycled over. It's a pretty impressive sounding site. There's a court tomb, at least one wedge grave, some cists, a stone circle and cairns.

Like sorry can we be clear that what’s happened here is that a Green MSP did an interview a year ago where they made the point that lots of different acts constitute rape, and now a bunch of Scottish Labour MSPs are sharing a doctored clip of this claiming it’s rape apologism.
A real problem for politicians who have stayed on Twitter is you do seemingly stop noticing stuff like "get him deported back to India."

One of the reasons you can tell NI politicians aren't serious about trying to end the cycle of racist riots is that the message to kids when it happens is, "Don't get caught up in this, it could ruin your life" and not "We will ruin your life if you get involved and we will enjoy it."

The tactic of sharing a list of houses is straight out of the NI paramilitaries handbook and its spread to England is troubling. The police should really be looking to prosecute anybody sharing it with all the conspiracy and aiding and abetting charges they can think of.
You can pretty routinely give the police a large amount of data that, in normal circumstances, would allow them to catch the perpetrator, in this case literal video of him committing one of the crimes, and they still won't do anything.

Fundamentally you get to talk about your legitimate concerns when you shop the people throwing rocks and driving people from their houses to the police. If a fellow protester is behaving like that and you don't act, you are tacitly endorsing what they say.
There are a lot of answers in the replies, but I think that we're dealing with at least three phenomena that happen to overlap. You've got agricultural areas and their towns; London flight towns and just normal rural conservatism. They have commonalities but they aren't the same as each other.

This is a really inadequate Home Office statement in these circumstancds It empathises with this protest as expressing legitimate concerns, singles out violence against police, and simply fails to say "violence threatening asylum seekers, migrants & other minorities is shocking + wrong"

Just trimmed back some tree branches getting a bit too close to our gutters and I can confirm that climbing up a tree is just as fun when you're 39 as it is when you're 9, though you have to check the branches a bit more carefully before trusting your weight to them.
