I have, with my own eyes, watched my tax dollars in the form of missiles as they hit buildings inhabited by civilians. I'd much prefer subsidizing a grocery story I don't use.

You know your government is doing well when the party in power keeps raising threats of marxists and communists. Meantime, cost of living continues to sail further from the reach of the average person. Healthcare expenses continue a steady upward climb.
1/ Over the weekend, the FDA announced that a lettuce sample from Taylor Farms tested positive for Cyclospora. Within 24 hours, the FDA backtracked, calling the result a false positive. Taylor Farms quickly deleted its own posts about its bagged lettuce and boasted the FDA had apologized to them.
Great thread about the dreadful comms from FDA “If you're confused, trust me, you're not alone. This is one of the most opaque, confusing, and unclearly communicated outbreak responses I've ever seen.”

The US public needs to be aware: we are not ready. We are not living with the same protections we had just 2 years ago. Awful, uncomfortable, inconvenient. This GI bug was not highly fatal. There are many other infectious diseases that are and our safety net is in tatters.
