Republican voters in western NC gave us Madison Cawthorn and then replaced him with Chuck Edwards. Obviously character and decency isn’t something that matters very much to them.

While Democrats are paralyzed by factionalism and infighting, Republicans are marching in lockstep off a cliff behind the leadership of one of the least-popular presidents of all time. www.slowboring.com/p/republican...

A paramilitary group plotted to overthrow the Constitution then conducted a violent attack on America. They were convicted in court of seditious conspiracy, and jailed. Then the leader they aimed to illegally install got power and let them out, their records wiped clean. The Jan. 6 attackers won.
Judge Pained as He Grants Dismissal of Jan. 6 Charges Against Oath Keepers
The judge, Amit P. Mehta, blasted the administration’s request for a dismissal in the case, saying it bestowed “unearned grace” on the Oath Keepers defendants “by wiping their records clean.”

Something about the isnternational democracy assistance system didn’t work, but no one wants to admit it or look to closely for fear of losing even that last thin trickle of funding.
I can't read the whole piece due to paywall, but the snippet there implies things like Patriots & Pragmatists should have worked but didn't--but what if the theory of change was just wrong?
As Viktor Orbán’s government-backed Danube Institute is dismantled, its leaders are quietly moving its international network to the U.S. The new entity includes Heritage Foundation allies, MAGA figures, and associates of Elon Musk’s lawyer. GPAHE previously reported on the group's expanded board:

Good @gelliottmorris.com piece showing Trump's deportations are unpopular in *all* the swing states. Key point: Republicans know Trump is deeply vulnerable on the issue, even if pundits refuse to see it. He discusses my piece on Susan Collins/Dems at length: www.gelliottmorris.com/p/even-repub...
a republican congressman allegedly broke his two-year-old daughter's collarbone and he somehow hasn't been run out of congress. there really is no bridge too far for these ghouls.

Happy birthday to Katie Phang, the badass who is tormenting cover-up artistTodd Blanche.
As I said repeatedly during Trump 1.0, Trump sees the U.S. Treasury as his personal piggy bank. But back then, he couldn’t find a way to siphon it to himself. This time around, he has: shakedowns, crypto, and the slush fund. With the added bonus of paying off his own shadow army.
Have you ever thought about the 1984 VW Golf. Like, really thought about it. The manual transmission, the AM/FM radio, the cab that could easily fit five big dudes, the trunk that could easily hold two kegs.... And all in a package that could fit in a 1950s garage.
I’ve been yelling about it this all year. Municipalities still act like these are unfortunate incidents instead of what they are. They’re attacks on critical infrastructure. We’ve underinvested in modernizing essential systems and infrastructure while degrading cybersecurity.
Are you saying the DOJ withdrew that pool vandalism indictment… upon reflection?
Let’s not forget that this illegal Reflecting Pool indictment was also overseen by Todd Blanche. He could have stopped this at any time, but he was a corrupt and willing accomplice to this fraud upon the court. How can any decent person possibly vote for this man as AG?

Following absurd orders is a key feature of authoritarian rule.
On thing to keep in mind about this absurd reflecting pool case is the focus on the momentary whims of the president, his angst over bad news cycles. This whole thing was a travesty. Every lawyer involved knew these charges were factually in addition to legally baseless. But there are many more …

This is why “defund the police” may not have been politically appealing but is politically necessary. After a certain point, every dollar that goes to the police (and especially sheriffs) is a dollar to MAGA and authoritarian rule in the US. No country in the world has overfunded police like US.
as a society we really ought to have learned by now. regular order police, gendarmerie, etc are always instrumental in deportations etc. Christopher Browning's famous book, Ordinary Men, is subtitled "Reserve Police Battalion 101 and the Final Solution in Poland."
