Yesterday I overheard a new hire talking to my boss about how he uses AI for coding. It's really convenient, he insisted, once you get past the bugs and hallucinations and inconsistency and lack of memory and lack of security and so on and so on. Thinking about that a lot today for some reason.

While doing my semester abroad in Osaka I had an issue with my Metro card. The station master was trying to help me out, but he spoke very little English and I very little Japanese. After a few minutes of gesturing and talking past each other I hear from behind me, "Need some help young man?"
