Didn’t care for the other books. But Midnight X-Men has that *it* factor. Hickman and Della Fonte at 100%. It’s like an emotional inversion of house of x

teaching Watchmen this week made me remember that doomsday clock is a thing DC comics did a few years ago. it came to me like a jump scare in a horror film. awful, evil
A bunch of things about the Wolverine game are pretty fun and work. Logan being a nicer and more sensitive guy than people are used to is a completely valid take. but some of the other stuff… the way the game treats the idea of mutants, Jean Grey, apocalypse… very frustrating.
folks, is Libreoffice... good? all my creative work is done in scrivener whcih is thankfully AI free, but microsoft and google and even apple pages are so filthy with AI I just want to throw them away
HELLO! Thank you! It's about ALL those things. It's why I love it!
"dracula is actually about repression" "dracula is actually about bloodsucking landlords" "dracula is actually about assault" "dracula is actually about xenophobia" "dracula is actually about bram stoker being closeted" dracula is about all of those things welcome to the gothic genre
it's hard to balance being excited about writing news (secret) with being sick and anxious about phd thesis feedback
Man I’m so excited. Saint of Bright Doors and Rakesfall were both mind-altering pieces of work, the kind of writing I spend all of my time HOPING to encounter but rarely do
My third novel, HERO COME HOME, officially has a cover! Preorderable from the usual places us.macmillan.com/books/978125...
there is too much vomiting in poetry. stop that. take a graval
AI on my phone, on my laptop, in my spreadsheets, in my word processor, in my PDF reader, in my student assignments, in my ads, on my maps I’m going to scream get this shit away from me
Pls send authors nice emails about their work Otherwise it's a wasteland of slopscammers and "Were is the addiobook I want addio" "Wy is ur book not for sale in my nation no one has ever herd of" "I live on Enceladus & I cannot find ur bok"
I just think there's a special place in hell for genAI scammers who target authors who haven't received a nice email about their work in over 5 years 🥲
INCREDIBLE writing news that I cannot speak about publicly just yet. but please know: I am over the moon

Just following this up to emphasize how insane I feel making distinguishing between pre and post-crisis DC character an important part of a university lecture
Spending World Batman day exactly the way I'm supposed to
Most of the hate for the new Wolverine game is so silly to me, BUT something about making Jean Grey have a big blushing schoolgirl crush on Wolverine makes my blood boil
I’m back to doing back squats at 225 (hurray!) I’m making terrible noises in the third and fourth sets (oh no)
Spending World Batman day exactly the way I'm supposed to
Folks going to Can*Con, and folks looking for cool mostly-Canadian SFFH writers to follow, I made a starter pack with the folks I could find from the program: go.bsky.app/SE8c2SQ #BookSky @canconsffh.bsky.social
You CAN find me at @canconsffh.bsky.social this year! See you in Ottawa when the leaves are changing!
Finally caught up on all the Atthis Arts crap. Super depressing! Why does it often feel like spec-lit generates this kind of stuff way more than the mainstream presses? is it just that this is the scene I'm in so these are the scandals I see? Ugh
This segment will air tomorrow, and also tomorrow morning I'll be going on CBC Edmonton's morning radio show to talk even MORE about The Ol' Canucklehead!
Join me tomorrow morning on CBC Radio's "The Calgary Eyeopener" where you can listen to me say “oh my god did you know The Wolverine is Canadian? Did you know his claws originally came from the gloves? Did you know he was going to be a real wolverine that fell into radiation? And did you know Wolve

If you told me at 16 that at 30 the CBC would be asking me to come on to talk about X-Men, I actually think he would have fully taken that in stride

I preordered this book, and cannot wait for its release next Tuesday. Klein has always managed to channel both rage and hope, a tough and vital balancing act these days.
"People are really mad and however mad you are, it’s not enough. Because there is something so profound about no longer believing in the future, about seeing no value in our shared home, in the natural world. They’re traitors to creation.” www.theguardian.com/books/2026/s...
You know what sometimes I think more comics should bring back the old Claremont style third person narrator shtick. I fucking love this stuff
prepping a lecture on Claremont and Byrne's Dark Phoenix Saga is crazy for me. I open this book and I'm 4 years old in my dad's basement looking into a milk crate full of dusty comics, and taking Uncanny X-Men 131 out of a plastic sleeve. SF, fantasy, this is where it all started for me
I’m honestly so psyched to dive into this everyone should be so grateful we live in the timeline with a new @premeemohamed.com novel coming out
hey did you know that WICKHILLS, by Premee Mohamed (via @torbooks.bsky.social ) is coming out on TUESDAY? well now you know and you know what to do preorder and go against the rules of spycraft, actually....tell somebody! Tell everybody! us.macmillan.com/books/978125...
Well I’ve submitted my postdoctoral application to sshrc. So time to vomit with anxiety every single day till like February when I get the decision!
