One of the funniest things about being an Immigrant, queer, brown woc writer born in the Caribbean who is neurodivergent, and grew up on social assist. and who has had to navigate colonizer systems my entire life is having people tell me let other people have joy when I say I wish to see more horror

Yes. This. It is good to learn things even if you aren't doing rigorous application. But also, we take stuff for granted. Algebra, physics and chemistry are all around us. I'm a gardener and I've learned a lot about soil and PH. I sometimes bake. You drive a car, or take trains. That's science.

This is ragebait so not directly quoting it, but the question misses the point: studying those topics trains you to THINK, which ia something EVERYONE needs to know regardless if you use those specific skills.

Threads post: Did learning algebra, physics and chemistry ever actually come in handy in your adult life?

I am told that their intent wasn't to make a reference with regards to pseudo fair. But the point stands. If you are marketing a writing device to writers who don't code, what do you think they will associate sudo with? Also we've seen how intent and connotation in marketing clash disastrously.

We're going hard against AI in writing because barely anyone with power is holding the line unless and until we go ballistic, it seems. I don't think writers and artists want to be going scorched earth everyday, but it's wack-a-mole out here. Writing orgs and book outlets should know better??

For your information, the bookshop chain being mentioned here as being willing to sell AI books (if there were clear demand and clear labelling) and knowingly selling books that used LLMs and a poetry collection written "in dialogue" with ChatGPT is Daunt Books, London/SE England.

‘Sudowrite, the “best AI for novel writing”, promises to maintain your ‘unique voice’. Whether or not you have a unique voice, it will give you scene directions and alternative options for the plot, and act as your editor.’ Alfred Nunney on AI and books, from the blog. www.lrb.co.uk/blog/2026/oc...

If you use sudo write, which is a play on pseudo, which means not genuine, and has synonyms such as sham or fake you don't have a unique voice. This pull quote is click baity. The piece is about a bookseller lamenting AI and saying he continues to rec human authored work. Better Headline: GTFO AI

Also can we stop with the “non White” It’s a Black colleague . It’s very specifically a Black colleague and that is DEEPLY important they want to activate specific social tropes Because when it’s a different person they will be activating different tropes

The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead: www.ispot.tv/ad/SoDi/micr...
