I think it's real dumb that if you lose your job and qualify for unemployment, you stop being qualified if you enroll in school to get certification. Like, he is doing the school to have a better chance of finding a job. School is expensive. Anyways, I'm grumpy and depressed and hate everything.

Y'all, libraries are great. 100% love them. But for the love of all that is unholy, do not leave all your shit (laptop included) on a study table when you leave the building for over an hour. It is a public place.
Pretty much nothing in my life is going well right now, but at least I have delicious toast.
Creators at Silver Sprocket have released a public statement regarding longstanding concerns with the business practices of the company which alleges issues around payment of royalties, poor treatment of staff, and lack of professionalism. Please read their statement: cartoonist.coop/sprocket-art...
Sometimes, even when you really love someone, you will be possessed by the overwhelming urge to kick them in the shin. The number of people I would currently like to kick in the shin is only 3, but that still feels like a lot right now.
ICYMI, PLEASE REPOST AND SHARE WIDELY!!! We need your help once again, you magnificent Space Unicorns! Behold the Uncanny Magazine Year 13: The Space Unicorn Believes in YOU! Kickstarter!!! buff.ly/Gab1zWu
Very cool Spider-Man exhibit up at the Museum of Science and Industry.
Unsurprisingly, most of my attempts to grow things this year have been unsuccessful. It's been a lot of #gardening fails, but this lily managed to hang on and give me a beautiful bloom this week 😍
So I used to have a prayer plant, but, like many of my houseplants, it tragically perished through my bad plant mom skills. Eventually a friend gives me a snake plant cutting. It grows and gets big enough to need a pot. I home in the prayer plant pot. Somehow, the prayer plant returned 🤣
This is, by far, one of my favorite King Arthur tales. Will definitely be picking this up for my collection.
I don't think I've mentioned a Once & Future omnibus is coming out in October. All 30 issues of Dan Mora and Tamra Bonvillain tearing it up for $60. I suspect the Mora fan in your life (i.e. everyone) would like to know it exists.
Come by the @libcomix.bsky.social Comics Lounge at #alaac26 We're located at the end of aisle 1300. We have floppies and polls and coloring and more!
My petty reminder for #alaac26, don't have conversations while you're attending a panel. If you need to talk to someone, step away from the attendees. It makes it difficult for the people around you to hear the panelists clearly.
Just to be 100% clear, when I say that you should not be talking to the police, I mean specifically that you should say, “I’m invoking my fifth amendment right to remain silent.”
I am very excited to see some of my most favorite people at ALA this week 😍
As you may have gathered, I'm moving to Chicago this summer!! And I'm now doing a lil' fundraiser to defray some costs (since the academic job market for the last three years has been, shall we say, a nightmare) Thanks for any help or sharing around, everyone 🖤🌈 www.gofundme.com/f/help-lee-m...

Have started playing the Anthropeum game from the Met. I am not great, but am really enjoying it. Even when I'm horribly wrong I still learn fun new things. It's a treat.
Yellow cheese. With the unfortunate side effect of making me generally suspicious of many cheeses.
What’s the most widely enjoyed food that you can’t stand, not because of allergies or anything but just because you hate it?
I really do find it unfortunate that I cannot just pop my brain out and let it float around in a bowl of water for awhile. Little spa day for the brain. Little rubber ducky friend. It would fix me.
Raccoon acquired! Original art from the Raccoon comic by @simkaye.bsky.social and ink done by my friend Mark at Dinosaur Tattoo Studio in Waukegan.

Y'all, if you support libraries and librarians, please remember to support all types. Academics and specials are facing challenges just like school and public libraries are. And if your idea of solidarity is to shit on people who bring that up, maybe you should reconsider your priorities.
Since I became a librarian oh so many years ago, I've actually become a lot less precious about personally owning a lot of books. But my collection of Discworld novels by Terry Pratchett are one of the sets that I haul with me forever because this is my dad collection. I only inherited a few from +
I know the entire world is on fire and I am considerably better off than most folks. But at the same time it would be really great if I could make it a full year without something catastrophically shitty also happening in my personal life. I feel shitty and guilty for saying that, but I am so tired.
Not doing our usual big planting this year for reasons. So instead just trying to clean up the beds, destroy more grass, seed more clover, and all that jazz. The peony and lilac both seem to be doing well. #gardening
This year's #baking contributionto NYE is not pretty, but it's only my second croquembouche ever so I'm still happy with. And it's very tasty.
