Dear smokers: if, upon lighting up, you hear someone coughing violently in your vicinity, it would be awesome if you could spot that person & try to move downwind of them at the very least. Standing in place, staring at them, & blowing smoke rings? Not so cool. Sincerely, *hackcoughwheeze*

Similarly, though less sticky, QWERTY found my pill box and knocked it open, scattering pain, sleep, & anxiety meds on the floor yesterday morning. After accounting for almost* all of them, I spent most of the day reminding him that he would make a lovely pair of mittens.

New blog post: The Great Discworld Re-Read: Small Gods! This is one of my favorite of the Discworld books, so I talk about it on its own. TW: religion (which, given the title, shouldn't be a surprise) www.insertscenehere.com/2026/06/grea...

TIL our car, Bingeley*, will reach out to the dealership on its own to say it's time to schedule maintenance. I find this both neat and vaguely disconcerting. *Named for the Dis-organizer in the Discworld books (GNU Terry Pratchett), because the car bings about EVERYTHING. It's very anxious.

Two bits: 1) My blog has a new address! I bought myself a domain, but the old link will redirect. 2. New post with a new short story! I'm working on getting better about sharing my writing, so here's a story I wrote for last year's NYC Midnight contest: www.insertscenehere.com/2026/04/shor...

Short Story: Sheila and the Studio

The 1st Round results for the Short Story Challenge 2026 are up at nycmidnight.co/4cdouzU! Congratulations to the top 5 in each group for advancing to the 2nd Round, which kicks off this Thursday, April 9th. Best of luck to them, and thanks to all who participated!

For Traumatic Backstory Reasons, I've been afraid of turning 45. My friends helped me reframe it by helping me throw a Triple Quinceañera today, with a gobliñata representing the brain goblins I fight everyday and snackle boxes with names and googly eyes. They are the absolute best.
