This is something that drives me wild... the whole student loan crisis seems like an obvious thing where if we simply deleted the loans, people would spend a lot more and the economy would be much happier. Republicans fundamentally do not understand this.

When people don't have enough money to spend on luxury products, it means I might have to cut staff. This would drive up the unemployment rate and create MORE people without disposable income. See how that cycle works?

I own a business that sells relatively expensive tea. Know what happens when people are saddled with debt or don't have disposable income? They don't buy my tea and I make less money. This is why my business has struggled since gas and grocery prices went through the roof.

One thing Republicans never understand with everything from SNAP to student loan forgiveness is that when we financially assist people, those people now HAVE MONEY TO SPEND on the products and services their own big campaign donors sell — the products and services that drive the economy.
