yes. yes yes. the UK is (not just the originator but) the setting for some of the most popular culture in the world. there is a whole genre of videogames that are set in an imagined Britain. 'soft' power is real economic and even political power.

There was no ideological heart. There needed to be a clear project to make people's lives better. Instead the "pragmatic" project of cuts to vital lifelines continued. It felt like a continuation of Tory policy because it picked up exactly the same talking points without any plan to transform them.

If you truly were an "unflinching" ally, you wouldn't have flinched when we told you to show up as people not organizations. Trans people want you to show up, as yourself, to show us that YOU personally support our rights. Then you can act on that conviction to change party leader opinions.

The thing that Starmer and Labour refuse to understand about Reform and immigration is the issue is not political, but libidinal. It is symbolic of an itch, an urge for a Final Solution. What they want is something no mainstream politician can offer, and to them, only Farage ever legitimately could.
