It's hard for me to fully comprehend that there are people who believe LLMs are strictly useless in programming and/or strictly harm the quality of code/product. Makes me want to write a blog post about it... Various scattered ideas and notes off the top of my head (*not fact checked*):

Every time I open my Bluesky feed it sends me down a thousand little rabbit holes, each no less than ten minutes long, with one eventually cascading into a full multi-hour web crawling session, just clicking on links and reading, reading, reading... It's 3am, again I'm so tired

Main router (OpenWrt) suddenly rebooted into recovery mode without me noticing 4 hours ago. Reboot didn't help. I so don't want to deal with this right now... I have a not entirely up to date configs backup, should've made one yesterday... Uptime was what, half a year without problems? Why now?

I think I figured out a fix (pending confirmation). I'm not sure what is causing the link downs, probably some hardware reliability issues at 10G, but I'm fine with it as long as it can recover, which it failed to do. The fail state was link up with only an IPv6 address. I present to you the fix:

Screenshot of NetworkManager GUI, editing a connection, IPv4 Settings tab, Method set to "Automatic (DHCP)", mouse hovering over the checkmarked option "Require IPv4 addressing for this connection to complete", tooltip shown "When connecting to IPv6-capable networks, allows the connection to complete if IPv4 configuration fails but IPv6 configuration succeeds.".

It was not in fact the motherboard port... :( Ok, the warnings are because of the WinBox itself. But what is up with all the link up and downs? This is after switching to an SFP28 port on a ConnectX-4 PCIe NIC.

So Discord moved away from having the app in their deb distribution... Now it's just a thin wrapper[1] over a client fetcher written in Rust[2]. Problem is, Discord is blocked in Russia, so downloading it requires a proxy/VPN. curl obviously had no problem downloading a deb via a proxy, now... (1/3)

Short vertical videos are such a cancer on attention and joy. Doom scrolling is real and the name is accurate. I think I properly experienced doom scrolling for the first time, more than 3 full days down the drain. I could feel the momentary stimulation withdrawal when I minimized the YouTube app...

I made yt-browse, a youtube channel search TUI Filter by date range, use regexes, order results by views/duration/date, find playlists, and ignore shorts. Everything is cached; search is instant after an initial load. it's like search, but for youtube github.com/nolenroyalty...

ssh is an obscure but widely-deployed command. It stands for Secure Snake Home and was made in the 90s to securely play snake online I made a massively multiplayer backend for it with support for thousands of concurrent snake players ssh snakes.run to join!

In OBS you should *not* resize browser sources from the outside, using the red border. Browser sources are resized in their settings, where you enter width and height in pixels, those are the dimensions of the browser window that's going to be created to render out the page.

Can the Bluesky mobile app actually tell me when a "like" or other network request fails? Intermittently, depending on how my ISP feels I guess, Bluesky becomes unavailable for me, and there's not much I can do besides using a VPN 24/7, which is kinda complicated and I don't want to...
