Congratulations to Professor Wang on winning the Fields Medal (Nobel Prize for Math). Only the 3rd woman in history to win. And she won for a preprint article! We have some ways to go in biology before preprints receive this level of impact and recognition.

Hong Wang, who proved the three-dimensional Kakeya set conjecture, has just won the Fields Medal, making her the third woman in the award’s 90-year history to receive math’s highest honor. Read our profile: www.quantamagazine.org/hong-wang-wi...

Thanks @khallaf.bsky.social for presenting your amazing paper in our lab meeting today. We are all quite excited about these discoveries.

Our new paper is out in @nature.com! We uncovered how a naked mole-rat queen 👑 controls an entire colony: a natural contraceptive scent that suppresses reproduction in other females! A remarkable mammalian parallel to bees and ants! 🐝🐜 @garyrlewin.bsky.social youtu.be/enfv3zJrWKM?...

According to @edvardmoser.bsky.social, director of the Kavli Institute for Systems Neuroscience, the four recipients of the Kavli Prize in Neuroscience challenged what had long been regarded as a central dogma in neuroscience. By Alissa de Chassey www.thetransmitter.org/awards/four-...

Great visit back to UPenn today for distinguished lecture series. Saw so many old friends and mentors. Doing your PhD and postdoc at the same school also means you can go to dinner with your grad school advisor (Meera Sundaram) and postdoc advisor (Wenqin Luo).

Where, exactly, does learning happen in the brain? Out today in @nature.com, we identify a synaptic locus of birdsong learning and show that the circuit can be tuned to make birds learn faster - but at a cost. Read on👇 #neuroskyence 🧪 #prattle 💬 #bioacoustics Shareable link: rdcu.be/fiyrS
