A spiky pile of trauma responses and bad coping mechanisms vaguely arranged into the shape of a woman

Genuinely what the fuck do these people even want? There are no trans women in the WNBA. Is the WNBA supposed to put out statement declaring that they hate trans people? What is even the ask here?

@Chris_Broussard
The WNBA, just as it’s beginning to pop, will soon be the G-League unless these women start using common sense. Do what’s right & protect girls & women in sports!

I shouldn’t be lying around moping and doing weed and booze to try to cure my malaise. I should be leveraging my mental health issues to try to get on ketamine treatments and using *that* to cure my malaise instead!

Commissioning a transphobic bigot to write an article about a UK academic scandal to somehow indict US higher education (a completely different system about which this case has literally no bearing) for being too woke is peak New York Times brain. Not a great thing, just an unfortunate one.

Who at @nytopinion.nytimes.com decided: “hey, let’s get Jesse Singal to do some racist schadenfreude!” https://www.nytimes.com/2026/08/08/opinion/cambridge-plagiarism-arday-higher-education.html

I got paragraphs from her and co-host explaining why my section was removed. Which included (but not limited to): 1. The anger I expressed was deemed "unproductive." 2. Saying that my criticisms of enbies and trans men who contribute to transmisogyny was "unfair." 3. Too much swearing.

A friend of mine invited me on her podcast where she made an episode talking about transmisogyny online. More specfically, she and her co-host wanted a POC trans woman's perspective. My section was completely removed from the episode cause I "sounded too angry."

Sometimes when I have trouble breathing I don’t immediately reach for my inhaler. Sometimes I just let myself struggle to breathe in the vain hope that I’ll magically just… cease

to see a trans person get stabbed to death, a trans prisoner get denied meds they need not to die etc and be like "but what does this Really Mean?" is actually very cruel. maybe u don't realize that but i believe this is apparent if u think about it for even a moment

you're welcome to be mad at me for being unreasonable or shrill or cynical or mean to our staunch WNBPA allies doing their best or whatever as usual. there's no need to come back and apologize later. you have my blessing now and my forgiveness in advance.

WNBA: *technically doesn't yet ban trans ppl* WNBA: we're convening a task force of team pres & GMs on The Trans Question WNBPA: we're having hard convos. don't be mean tho. call your local fascist to say now's a great time to amend title IX :) i'm sorry for being capable of basic math ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Cathy Engelbert confirms WNBA will continue transgender athlete talks next week; check details
The discussions next week will take place against this backdrop of competing views, public protests, and an eligibility rule that remains open to interpretation.

i am not trying to rob comfort from those who have taken comfort from this statement. i would simply invite you to notice what isn't in it and consider the implications of that absence.

WNBPA

STATEMENT FROM WNBPA PLAYER LEADERSHIP

To everyone who loves this game: The WNBPA represents 200+ individual people with different lived experiences, cultures, lifestyles, and opinions. We embrace justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion. Those are the values that unite this Union and allow it to protect women's sports while creating transformational change.

Hate, abuse, and demonization of any person or group of people, including transgender people, only fuel fear, division, and harm. We will continue to have hard conversations. But we will not be used as political pawns.

Support the Players. Support the Fans. At games, notify security if you witness hateful, violent, or abusive behavior. Online, report abusive posts and drown out the bots and bad actors. At home, tell your elected officials to strengthen Title IX.

Don’t listen to the worrywarts, deadly fungal plagues aren’t dangerous at all actually. They may even be good for you. Oh neat, we're getting Dust Bowl 2 www.sciencefocus.com/planet-earth...

the goal is to generate endless conversations about it in the highest-profile slots they can manage, so they have time to just say that trans women are "biological males" over and over and over and over and over and

just so we're 100% clear on this, the trans sports thing is about getting ordinary people to say to themselves, "well, there *are* some Real Differences, after all..." — it's a publicity campaign
