He wrote a scathing message to ICE. Federal agents showed up at his door.
David Streever of Rochester, New York, sued Department of Homeland Security officials on Monday, saying the agency’s actions violated his First Amendment rights.

In Mexico, BioPlaster Research is transforming #sargassum -a major environmental challenge in the Mesoamerican Reef region—into biodegradable packaging that replaces single-use plastics, helping to advance the circular economy in Mexico.
The only hope we have is that the AI push boomerangs quickly enough that we don't lose an entire generation to it

RECORD YEAR: 2025 was the biggest year ever for renewables. A record 692 GW was added, mostly solar. More importantly, non-fossil sources generated 43% of the world's electricity and fossil generation fell. More in Bright Spots: open.substack.com/pub/janrosen...
Renewables just had their best year ever
2025 was a record year for clean power but still falling short of what is needed

Venezuela quake: The most useful thing to give after a major catastrophe is cash. But it can be tricky figuring out where to send the cash where it’ll have the biggest impact. Local charities with known track records & connections work best, but… they’re the ones also struggling in the aftermath.
Some songs trigger really intense memories. I was listening to Love Calls by Kem and it took me right back to riding down Woodward with my parents in the summer, leaving Hart Plaza. What are some songs like that for you?
YIKES: The OPM is proposing new NDAs for federal workers, this means scientists cannot talk about their work. They can't share their data, or talk to journalists. But it's still open for public comment! Comment by June 26. www.regulations.gov/search?filte...

I live in the tropics with no AC, our house is pretty much consistently above 65% humidity and 80F/28C. When I tell you that the same temperature at my in laws' house in England is unbearable, I am serious. There are no fans or ways to remove the heat. I'm traveling with rechargable fans this summer

Dearest friends, I am in need of an epically banger short story collection. Please regale me with stories of your finest stories! Wash me in your teeny prose! Flood me in your mini-fiction references! Please— PLEASE BLUEKSY! I beseech thee!

Gas station cuisine has the highest highs and the lowest lows, and is oddly universal. Hell, we are heavily reliant on Petrosun baleadas, pastelitos, and soups here in Honduras.
Yeah I don’t turn my nose up at any gas station cuisine cause it’s a lot of gems out there, just got to be able to eyeball it.

Gave a lift to a nice family this morning. When I told them I am a marine biologist, the mom said "ok kids, we have 5 minutes, each of you think of a question that you would like to know the answer to about marine biology. Who is ready first?" and it was a real humbling lesson in parenting, lol

Elizabeth Madin, a researcher at the Hawaiʻi Institute of Marine Biology, developed software to analyze satellite imagery and detect “reef halos” around coral reefs. These features are created by grazing fish and provide a global monitoring tool for coral reef health. 🌊🧪
Future telehealth for the ocean: ‘Reef halos’ enable global checkups
