I research the war-peace nexus, postwar cities (Beirut, Belfast, Mitrovica, Mostar, Nicosia), the socioeconomics of peace, and geocoded urban violence at Uppsala University. I like mountains and tattoos.

The photo “confirms what thousands of testimonies from Palestinian detainees have exposed, and what we and other organisations have been reporting for nearly three years now: Israeli detention facilities are torture camps for Palestinians.”

The US-Iran deal says to end combat in Lebanon, but neither Israel nor Hezbollah signed it. The sides fighting there committed to nothing, and just had another deadly exchange of fire. As with no Israelis or Palestinians signing the Gaza deal, it's hard to end war without including the combatants.

This is a serious problem for Putin. He can only stay in power if the people around him think he's strong and Moscow getting droned by Ukraine sends the opposite signal: We started a war we can't win and now not even our capital city is safe anymore

Moscow air defense starting it's own fires by shooting down Ukrainian drones. The building hit by the downed drone in the first video is visibly on fire in the second video, as are numerous structures in the area.

In every academic book there is a secret second book hiding in the footnotes. Sometimes it is the first draft that had migrated there to escape the revisions. Sometimes it is the author's tortured secret rebuttal of their own claims, and sometimes it is the incipient form of the their next book.

Postar den här tråden igen, eftersom den är så jäkla viktig. Varje progressivt projekt behöver ta som en viktig utgångspunkt de regelverk som omgärdar statlig och kommunal budgetering. Relationen mellan stat och kommun (och regioner) är central.

Kör över SKR för all del. Men bortsett från att de statliga anslagen inte har ökat i reala termer behöver folk lära sig att kommuners överskott inte är jämförbara med statens överskott. Behövs kanske en kort tråd om det.

Every single article covering Israel should start by mentioning that they dubbed yesterday's operations in Lebanon "eternal darkness." You know that so much has already been normalised when this isn't even a cause for outrage. 303 people, at least, were murdered yesterday by Israel.

🇱🇧🔴112 people killed in Israeli strikes today across Lebanon, mostly in Beirut. 837 wounded. This is the latest and not the final count from Lebanon's health ministry, in one of the deadliest days of the ongoing war between Israel and Hezbollah.

Aviv Tatarsky. One of the most committed Jewish Israeli activists in defending Palestinians in the West Bank. Attacked by settlers viciously yesterday in Dir Istya where he was helping a Palestinian farmer. Israeli soldiers were there and did nothing. Every. Day. Photo: @nirhasson.bsky.social on X

Declaring that no quarter will be given unequivocally violates international humanitarian law. Indeed, ordering that no quarter will be given, threatening an adversary therewith or conducting hostilities on this basis is prohibited and constitutes a war crime.

Hegseth: "We will keep pushing, keep advancing. No quarter, no mercy for our enemies." No quarter is the refusal to take prisoners and instead just execute everyone. It's been considered a war crime for over a century.

Three days ago, Israel ordered the south evacuated. Two days ago, they did the same to the southern suburbs. That’s more than one million people. Some, the most vulnerable, are sleeping rough by the sea or on sidewalks. Today, it is raining. War harms the poor the most.
