I showed up at my local community association to try to get some help w/ the community garden up the street, but it was election night, and I walked out the door as VP. The elected president went on to shirk 90% of his responsibilities, and now I'm on my fourth year running the joint.

Thomas Jefferson had the right idea here. The ideal for a candidate is 1) saying you aren't running, 2) hiding out at your house and not talking to anyone, and 3) getting elected to office anyways.

Man, fresh tomatoes & herbs really are where it's at. Add cucumber, parsley & lemon juice and you have fattoush. With peppers, onion, cilantro & lime juice - salsa. Add basil, mozz & oil and you have caprese. Rub it on toast wl garlic for bruschetta. I hated tomatoes as a kid. Boy was I wrong.

A wide variety of tomatoes of all sizes and shapes

Everywhere should be a hostile place for Republicans. They should not be able to find a friend anywhere. They should lose all their professional and familial relationships. They should be blocked from signing up to social media platforms, clubs, and yard sales. They should be ejected from fairs.

None of us is more important than a Palestinian child being bombed by Israel, or a Sudanese woman being assaulted by the RSF, or a Congolese child being enslaved so you can use a smartphone and AI, or an immigrant being tortured in ICE detention, or a detainee in Riker's who can't afford bail.

It’s important to understand that when 1.2 million Americans are dying from a disease, any government action is excessive and tyrannical, but if a dozen trans women want to play soccer no government action can go far enough

Nothing quite sets you against the wretchedness of silicon valley like trying to help a 70 or 80 year old neighbor figure out why they can't just use their phone to talk to their grandkids, and you discover a million pieces of malware that could have been prevented just by not being greedy fucks.

Hunter Biden: “As it relates to Donald Trump, fuck him. Fuck his son. Fuck his daughter. I mean it. All of them. The whole family, down to the grandchildren. I hope that, for the rest of time, their names will live in ignominy. They have done the most awful things to my family and to me.”

Enough “what would you do on the commune questions” If you got sent back 100 years and were given your grandparent’s job, what are you doing?

I did the (admittedly rough) math, and by my calculations we could plant enough apple trees to ensure one apple a day, every day of the year, for every resident of the city of Baltimore using about 3-4% of the land inside the city's boundaries.

I wish I could disagree with @diogeneslamp.bsky.social But I can’t The exact same folks who skewered Michelle Obama for her efforts to boost exercise & healthy eating—vilifying her for “government overreach”—embraced RFK Jr, even though 1 million kids lost food support under MAHA That’s racism

If, when Michelle Obama promotes healthy eating and exercise for children, you go berserk & portray her & her husband as African witch doctors with bones thru their noses, but when RFK Jr says "The CDC banned healthy eating & exercise", you clap for him, your problem isn't Pharma, it's racism

Workshop facilitator last week introduced herself as a kintsugi enthusiast, and as she talked about it I realized the appeal: We are all broken vessels, but a few chunks of gold bullion could probably fix a lot of what's wrong with us.
