My aunt's memoir is coming out in January, and I'm looking forward to reading it!
Reading *The River Drowns the Able Swimmer* by Xujun Eberlein & am blown away. The writing. The resilience. The passion for learn despite the book ban in China's cultural revolution. "BANNED BOOKS ARE ALWAYS TASTIER "An important read publishing 1-12-27 by @catapultbooks.bsky.social #history #memoir
I like the irony of the adult content label here. Fucking disgrace.

It is so beyond time for this platform to let us turn off reskeets by account.
I spent the last week mostly off social media and YouTube, just reading. This also comes on the heels of me blocking Reddit on my computer. My mood has rarely been this good.
i’m sorry everyone, i’ve been caught using this table and a d6 to help improve my work 1 - Perfection—no notes 📝 2 - Clear and concise, great job 👏 3 - Absolutely fascinating 🧐 4 - Crushing it as usual 💪 5 - Masterful take on the subject 🥇 6 - Roll again for deeper analysis 🎲

AMERICA’S HARDEST WORKING CARTOON DAD 🥲
The only ones having fun right now are the ducks, cobra chickens, and me.
I hadn't heard about Lac Mill Creek until I arrived there this evening, intending to climb the former bike path. There were ducks swimming on it.
For the morning commuters: Avoid Mill Creek Ravine. There is a massive mud-bottomed lake at the bottom of the hill at the north entrance, more than 24 hours after the storm. Also, the tree down on 83rd Ave between 101 & 102 Streets is still there as of 11:30pm. Bypass via car lane. #yegbike
I got to go see The Odyssey in 70mm IMAX today, I really enjoyed it, and I loved seeing projected film. It's been so long since I saw anything other than a digital projection. And I got the promotional film strip! I didn't think I would, but it's super cool! #believeinfilm
Reposting because I spent like 45 minutes on this dumb shit yesterday and I like it.
It really do be like this sometimes huh
State Line Lookout Cafe, Alpine, NJ 2026 This Book Is A Camera, f228 pinhole, Ilford rc paper My daughter’s first entrance in the #ShittyCameraChallenge ❤️. I held cam, she opened/closed the shutter and attempted to be a ghost in the image while it was open. Over exposed, unfortunately. 🤷♂️
Whoah. Dark horse entrant for the #ShittyCameraChallenge. My daughter and I are gonna try this awesome book, that is a (pinhole) camera! #ThisBookIsACamera #BelieveInFilm
Okay, this may be the coolest photo I've ever taken. Lightning last night in Edmonton. This struck downtown, grounding on what I think is the large construction crane. Above the Walterdale bridge at left, the shock wave of the thunder displaces the rain. #photography #yeg
Okay, weather folks, meteorologists: Can thunder act like a more traditional over pressure event, displacing rain in a sphere from the bolt of lightning? I took a photo this evening where that could be the case, but it may also just be lens flare, so I'm curious. #weather
GREG DAVIES: seems like a kind of a shit task. Everyone just seems like they're going home normally. ALEX HORNE: well before you say that let's have a look at how Odysseus did. cut to panel of AJAX, MENELAUS, AGAMEMNON, and DIOMEDES who are all staring at ODYSSEUS with his head in his hands
I had to fix a mac's firmware yesterday, one of the apple silicon ones. Back in the day, you would have to go in for service, or try and use firewire or thunderbolt to access the drive or something. I connected it to another mac using a USB-C cable and it just fixed the firmware like magic.
not the point at all, but one of the few measures of real technological progress over the last decade is the fact that you can now charge your laptop, phone, vape, sex toy, and chainsaw with the same cable
There's been a lot of talk about the climate crisis this summer--rightfully. But, I am once again begging people to consider their messaging. The current strategy of dire warnings is only re-entrenching sides, and it makes mental health worse for those of us who accept the science. 1/8
I had to do some "tough love" for a writer exactly once. I hated it. I'm there to boost the author, and my absolute favourite part of the job is pulling the loose threads, and then seeing how the author reworks it better than I could have imagined.
This entire thread is shit but especially this part is shit. An editor who destroys your confidence is a shit editor.
Okey dokey. here’s a close up of the first page from the most recent public update. You can see my scratchy pencils using a non-photo red lead and some white out usage too.
Can you post a closeup of your linework in one of the panels, please? I love seeing those pencils under the ink. You've always had great ink linework.
More vintage comics need to lean into the anachronism harder, like Heathcliff. The strips are out-of-time, so why shouldn't the characters act like it?
Getting whiplash seeing Lady Gaga referenced while Dagwood wears a tux to the pet store
The sports betting ads have finally landed in Alberta and I fucking hate it.

The first place I encountered GPT was on the subreddit simulators, which were funny because it was a program trying to emulate people. Now it's people using a program to try and emulate being people. Total simulacrum.
If I have to read one more AI-written post on LinkedIn I am going to eat the business end of a shotgun. Because here's the thing: communication is the essence of being human. We're social creatures and are nourished by the richness of human diversity. Find your own voice. And thank me later.
I've found a new hellscape that AI has created: trying to find simple troubleshooting information for windows.
Jesus fucking Christ. I can't even imagine being this guy. I can't imagine being in his head. Both to do this, and then feel comfortable saying it publicly.
The full quote is even worse.

Well, no. That would collapse the quantum superposition, causing an "election"
*pinches bridge of nose, eyes closed, takes a deep breath* so do we have ANY idea how many living US Senators there are right now?
