HAD to repost this! I used to index scholarly books and oooh, Oelker is so right! For the most part, authors indexing their own books is a disaster waiting to happen. A bad index frustrates readers and, believe me, reviewers will notice and have something to say, usually not good. 📚💙 #BookIndexing

Academic authors: don't let your book index be your villain origin story; hire a professional indexer. We're worth the cost and you deserve the saved sanity. (I gripe, but I do also enjoy this sort of question.)
