I am reading an unpleasant French book set in 1986 in which gay men are starting to die of AIDS in large numbers. (And a lot of people were famously very weird about it.) I am living in 2026, where they don't.

Never thought I'd have to say it, but we need to legalize treehouses in Chicago. It makes perfect sense for the city to lack rules for treehouses on public trees, but I feel like city council could get a pretty easy win by writing an ordinance for it

In America, mass transit is widely considered to be an alternative of last resort for the extremely poor rather than a safer, cheaper, cleaner and more efficient means of moving people around a metropolitan area.
