Gonna be a contrarian here and say this might work because there’s literally no food in this country like Chipotle. However, if Chipotle insists on calling their slow roasted beef “barbacoa” and their pulled pork “carnitas”, no chance it works

The first of what executives hope could be as many as 200 Chipotles opened this month at a large shopping mall in the Monterrey area of Mexico, bringing to life what might seem an absurd proposition — one that Taco Bell attempted, and failed at, twice.

Company Offering Printed Books to Train AI Stops After 404 Media Coverage

Citing backlash, ISBNdb removed its webpages about training AI, denied ever buying, scanning, or selling a book for AI training, and said the site was a "test of market interest."

I don’t know if anyone has ever combined investigative journalism and (not sleazy) entertainment like this before. @pablo.show is a genius His ongoing reporting also makes it so clear how there are basically no other sports journalists anymore: they’re all either fans, stenographers, or commentators

Stephen Miller said just the other day that all asylum claims are "fake." A couple deported from the U.S. to Guatemala were gagged, bound, and shot dead. Their 14-month old found crying next to their mother's body. People like Miller don't care though because this is the point: ethnic cleansing.

“If immigration hadn't picked up my brother, my sister-in-law would still be alive, and the children wouldn't be going through this sorrow,” he said. “Unfortunately, immigration — the [U.S.] government — doesn't see that. It makes no difference to them.” www.stlpr.org/law-order/20...

67 boat strikes 221 people killed EXCLUSIVE: Operation Southern Spear has not reduced the volume, availability, purity or price of cocaine arriving in the U.S., according to an internal DEA assessment and a closed-door Pentagon briefing for senators, and has made enforcement more difficult

67 boat strikes. 221 dead. The cocaine hasn’t slowed, officials report.

The president says Operation Southern Spear has virtually ended drug trafficking by sea. Pentagon and DEA analysts have concluded otherwise.

A good design decision to put the domestic money at the bottom, so you can see that it — putatively Trump’s real business genius — barely moved at all.

This Friday, we're releasing "Killing Spree," the first report covering all aspects of the lethal US boat strike campaign: why it's illegal, the sloppy targeting, the victims, other countries' roles, the failure to affect drug supplies, and how to hold people accountable. More soon.

I LOVED watching the World Cup, so much so that I almost cried watching that BBC end credits highlight reel. AND This story from @leanderalphabet.bsky.social just makes the whole spectacle baffling. Do we really have to let FIFA plunder and ruin everything to put on a World Cup?

He died at Irwin, the detention center made notorious by allegations of unwanted gynecological procedures, and that Biden had shut down. Trump reopened it. Now it’s the site of yet another death in ICE detention following claims of medical neglect.

ICE has killed another person, this time by depriving him of life-sustaining medication for a known medical condition. Jesus Manuel Arenas-Silva was detained on Thursday. He was dead by Monday. Per @detentionwatchnetwork.org:
