Writer, editor, speaker, long-distance runner. Zine Things Happen fanzine (quarterly) 🎶 and Sarah Records book 'These Things Happen' - out now 🍒 📚 Author of three volumes of 'The Women Who Built Bristol'... and other books. https://linktr.ee/janeduffus

Thank you for keeping the Zine Things Happen packaging department busy this weekend. I'm now sold out of Heavenly fanzines BUT there are still some copies of issues 1 and 3 to pick up for a song. Just visit the link in my bio to go to my shop. Thank you 🙏🏻

Issue 2 of “Old Survivor” about to go public. “Tall Tales. Public Beefs. Bad Poetry. Incantations. Love Letters” is the rough remit. It’s mostly me (and some pals) writing about music and providing an outlet for some cool old graphic design stuff.

Lovely long piece in @theguardian.com on the recent resurgence of fanzines. @msclairebiddles.bsky.social has squeezed an impressive number of current fanzines in there... including mine. Click here to have a read: www.theguardian.com/music/2026/j...

Get 'em while they're cheap... In anticipation of issue 4 of Zine Things Happen (and wanting to make some space in my office) - I have: * dramatically slashed the individual price of issues 1, 2 and 3... and * set up a very bargain bundle if you buy all 3 together.

Those of you in the vicinity of Bristol might like to know that post-punk writer par excellence, Simon Reynolds (who I had the pleasure of interviewing for 'These Things Happen'), is at Strange Brew on Wednesday June 17 talking about his brand new book. It looks like a splendid evening.

Still in a Dream: Shoegaze, Slackers and the Reinvention of Rock, 1984–1994 at Strange Brew

The definitive story of the slackers and shoegazers who reinvented rock. Twenty years after his acclaimed postpunk best-seller, Rip It Up and Start Again, Simon Reynolds tells the tale of what happen...

I only ever made iTunes playlists to keep me company on ultramarathons. Scrolling through my playlists just now, I'm reminded of the time I made a one-song playlist to entertain me as I spent six hours running round and round and round a 400m athletics track in Walton-on-Thames a few years ago.

Don’t forget we’ll be in Bristol on April 25th for the Independent Label Market: Bristol at Bristol Beacon (free entry), from midday! Then it’s down to The Louisiana for the evening for Nasser Bouzida’s Grimm Fairy Tales, plus Big Boss Man live (ticketed)! We’d love to see you at both!
