Thread on latest language for the "rural health transformation program" intended to mitigate devastating cuts rural hospitals will face under the reconciliation bill. While the language may still change the program gives even more disturbing discretion to HHS Secretary in awarding the $ (1/x)

July marks Medicaid's 75th birthday! 🎂 75 YEARS of keeping millions of Americans alive and financially stable. Meanwhile, the Senate GOP is literally voting to gut it with the deepest cuts in history. The irony is not lost on us. 💀

#Medicaid expansion covers many people with disabilities not severe enough/incomes not low enough for SSI. It’s for adults with incomes below 138% of poverty line with most below 100%. GRAHAM to me says on Medicaid: “The thing we're trying to address that need, one thing we can't do is punt right?” Says the Obamacare expansion “actually takes money away from the disabled and the poor.” Republicans like Tillis and Hawley are worried about provider taxes hurting hospitals

Especially on hard days like today, when Congress inches closer to dismantling #Medicaid, it's important to celebrate those who've shown us how to persevere. Happy 95th birthday to my hero Dolores Huerta! Her warmth, humility, & fierce commitment will always inspire me to keep going. Se si puede!
