Time to go into hibernation and just push paint now that its too cold to go outside and do anything

I get that the news cycle is packed right now, but I just heard from a colleague at the Smithsonian that this is fully a GIANT SQUID BEING EATEN BY A SPERM WHALE and it’s possibly the first ever confirmed video according to a friend at NOAA 10 YEAR OLD ME IS LOSING HER MIND (a thread 🧵)
I'll keep reposting this (from 2023) because it's always a big mood for me at the start of Fall. 🥲🍂
Been struggling hard to breathe for well over a week now thanks to being severely sick and Fall isn’t even in full swing yet. I’m not looking forward to how the rest of this year into winter will play out for my immune system AT ALL.
"but art should be accessible" it is, you can learn to draw, paint, collage, sculpt, make pixels. right now, starting today. art has never been more accessible monetarily nor physically than it is now in this age. access to artist labor and machine production is not an accessibility issue.
Literally screaming over here?!? This is so utterly gorgeous.
Atlantis was 💯 me flexing how well I know my pigments. I knew I'd get that jaw dropping color shift from lime green/teal/turquoise into cerulean/cobalt/purples.
Said this on the other app but we rly need to normalize that growing up = becoming a person with the money to afford childhood interests. The idea that you have to suddenly stop caring about cute or joyful things when you turn 18 is the reason so many ppl are so fucking miserable for 60 years after
Today has been the worst of days 😞😞 finally made time to paint only to find out some of my watercolor paper has gone “bad” (it’s doing w weird pilling thing), and two colors in a palette molded (wtf? First time in 20 years). Reminder to use your supplies and find joy in them and not put it off!
A large part of me is glad i dropped $2k on supplies in Dec when i saw the supply chain/inbounds shitshow on the horizon, given majority of what I use would have dome out of France, Italy, & Japan. Doing so now would cost an arm an a leg (on top of the cost) w/this new policy going into effect.
Growing up here you learn how to sleep on the subway on your way to school and your body clock sets to the stop so you wake up. If you’re afraid of it I will never stop laughing at you
if you're not from or have never been to new york i cannot stress enough how normal the subway is 99% of the time. kids take it to school. everyone is basically chill. you learn to be in proximity with harmless weirdos or minor irritations pretty quick. for all its issues it's an incredible thing
To put it bluntly, this is a fucking disaster. For consumers, for small businesses and artists, for everybody. The US is cutting ourselves off from the rest of the world and for what?? Even if this gets sorted out or walked back, it’s going to cause a major disruption.
Multiple postal services around Europe say they are suspending the shipment of many packages to the United States amid a lack of clarity over new import duties.
The way my life currently revolves solely around sticking things on paper and watching LOTR in the theater needs to be studied.
