Keir Starmer is probably huddling with his most trusted allies right now, asking for advice on how to recover from what is a disastrous showing at the local elections. Here is my unsolicited advice to him:

If Keir Starmer really wants to "reset" his government, here are 3 hugely popular things he could do that would cut through with the public:

1. Nationalise water and fire Emma Reynolds. 80% of the public supports this. The amount of anger toward water companies and the Environment Secretary is huge. Put yourself on the right side of it.

2. Announce investment to rebuild NHS facilities, scrap plans for new PFI and fire Wes Streeting. If a leadership fight with Streeting is inevitable, this makes it a policy fight. With this agenda, he can accuse Streeting of selling out Labour’s biggest historic achievement, and he’d be on the same side as 87% of the public.

3. Nationalise Royal Mail. This is a bigger issue for millions of people than politicians realise. Just go and watch the Royal Mail Urgent Questions that took place on the 11th of March. People are missing NHS appointments right now because letters from their doctors are not being delivered.

There's more that he can do, but these are arguably the easiest ways to immediately start sending a powerful signal that he is serious about REAL CHANGE. People don’t just need to see or read about change.

People need to feel in their guts that he is on their side and is taking on the interests they want taken on.

😡😡A private company is trying to buy hundreds of GP surgeries Here's what should really concern you: they have an insider in the Department for Health.

OFWAT is on the verge of agreeing a deal with Thames Water that could see them allowed to dump sewage freely until 2030. Send this MPs' letter to your MP now. Ask them to sign this letter to Emma Reynolds, demanding she block this disastrous deal. weownit.org.uk/act-now/mps-...

MPs letter to OFWAT CEO and Environment Secretary Emma Reynolds

OFWAT is on the verge of agreeing a deal with Thames Water that would essentially allow them to dump sewage freely until 2030.

Thames Water's creditors are trying their luck. Their latest proposal to take over the utility is more of the same - terrible value for billpayers' money, and insulting attempts to dodge regulation. Take 2 mins to email your MP now: weownit.org.uk/act-now/emai...

Email your MP - the Thames Water creditors' latest deal must be rejected

The Thames Water creditors' latest proposal still asks for regulatory leniency. Email your MP to get them to urge Environment Secretary Emma Reynolds to resist the deal

5 years ago our NHS was the best healthcare system in the world. Today people are dying on NHS corridors - while Wes Streeting hands more NHS cash to private health companies. We took action outside Parliament today to demand NHS investment.

Private train leasing companies have syphoned out £1.16 billion in dividends since 2022. The Railways Bill won't change this. MADNESS! Ask your MP to attend @weownit.org.uk's drop-in session to find out how the bill can deliver for passengers, not profiteers. weownit.org.uk/act-now/rail...

“Head of OFWAT hear us say, Thames Water NO way!” OFWAT is considering allowing Thames Water to break the rules and dump sewage in our rivers and seas for the next 15 years. We are outside OFWAT HQ to demand they say NO!

Campaigners outside Thames Water HQ demanding they say no to Thames Water’s proposal to be allowed to dump sewage for the next 15 years.

👀WATCH👀 Earlier today, consumers challenging the Chief Operations Officer at Ofwat. We say NO to 15 more years of pollution. We say NO to rewarding Thames Water's failure. Special Administration Now!

The government wants to bring back private finance in our NHS. 🤬 This would harm patients by siphoning off hundreds of millions of pounds in profits from our NHS. 🤑 Rachel Reeves and Wes Streeting, you can still drop these disastrous and unpopular plans. Share if you agree.

What they promised:
Change
"Under Labour, the NHS will always be publicly owned and publicly funded."
Labour Party Manifesto 2024
What they're doing:
"Ministers have handed firms £6m in contracts to help devise plans to build a network of new
NHS clinics using private capital, despite fears the move could turn into a PFI-style disaster."
The Guardian 24th September 2025
we own it

😡This is madness! The government is shelling out millions to Deloitte to advise on bringing PFI back into the NHS. PFI deals signed under Blair are still damaging our NHS today, yet Wes Streeting wants to set another ticking time bomb under our NHS. We have to stop this.

Cut out of Guardian article with headline reading "Fears of new PFI-style 'disaster' as firms handed £6m to advise on using private funds for NHS clinics"

I am disgusted by Reform UK's threats to people who have built a life in this country. They are coming for our neighbours. They are coming for our colleagues. They are coming for our friends. We are at a dangerous moment. This hatred cannot be appeased. It must be defeated.

Incredible! Trainline claimed passengers can’t find cheaper tickets anywhere else. BUT they’ve been ordered to pull the ad. WHY? You can very much find cheaper tickets on rail operator websites. Time for a publicly owned retailer we can trust. Find out more in our report below.
