> Claims made by Jason Arday, who was the subject of a relentless media campaign over many aspects of his work and life and who was found dead on Friday, appear to be true[.] Particularly mocked was Arday's claim that he ran 30 marathons in 35 days. But [it seems he] completed the challenge. 1/

112 MPs wrote to the Environment Secretary calling for Thames Water to be put into Special Administration ahead of public ownership. Andy Burnham, you promised to bring forward big changes. Start with Thames Water. vist.ly/5f4ya

Water companies are trying to hike your water bills AGAIN. Privatisation is not affordable. Andy Burnham must block these bill hikes. Let the water companies that can't survive without hiking our bills GO BUST. Then we take them into public hands for nothing.

🚨NEW FROM ANDY BURNHAM He is absolutely right that households have been a blank cheque for these companies since 1989 Now he MUST stand up to privatised water by saying NO to any more bill rises and taking back failing companies Andy Burnham, can you rule out allowing any bill increases?

Quote from Andy Burnham: "Households “have been asked to pay more for years, yet serious pollution incidents are at record levels and the pipes are still leaking... Customers cannot be treated as a blank cheque. Where water companies seek to pass unnecessary costs on to households, they will be challenged.”"

Regulation hasn't stopped scandal after scandal at Thames Water. But their PR war to keep their hands on its assets continues. Write to your MP: Angela Eagle must reject the creditors' last-ditch attempt to keep Thames Water privatised. vist.ly/5eika

This whole absurd farce has inflicted, and will inflict, an unconscionable amount of injury and death on innocent, vulnerable people. But when it collapses—which it will—this woman and everyone who advanced it should be made to carry the shame and ignominy of its creation for the rest of their days.

I'm minded to rename the culture wars 'The Edge Case Wars'... Brexit: c.1.4% of all voters swung the vote to Leave. Pre-Brexit sovereignty complaints: Clinical Trials (that the EU then fixed) ECHR migration 'rage' cases: just 16 lost over many decades Covid vaccine harm: c.0.05% of the vaccinated

Brilliant letter from Stuart Thompson to Jeremy Clarkson about his comments that benefit claimants should write weekly thank you letters to tax payers detailing how they spend their benefits each week.

Imagine UEFA's statement about FIFA's plans to sell off the World Cup, but replace all the references to FOOTBALL with WATER Can you now see the absurdity of water privatisation? Andy Burnham has called the FIFA president to go. But our water is still in private hands: vist.ly/5d5x8

The moment external investors acquire ownership interests in water, water changes forever. Commercial return becomes a permanent obligation. Investor expectations become a daily pressure. From that moment onwards, every decision on the infrastructure, every decision on sewage dumping and every decision shaping the future of water is no longer driven by what best serves the public, but by what best serves shareholders. This model has no place in water. Britain's future cannot be dictated by the expectations of those whose first duty is to maximise financial return. Nor can the interests of households, communities and the environment become surordinate to investor returns. Britain cannot mortgage its future for financial gain. The public.'s position is clear. We will never lend this model our legitimacy. No one has the moral authority to sell what they merely hold in trust for the next generation.

Thames Water CEO went unchallenged on the BBC on the claim that public ownership means water investment competes with health and defence. This is a myth! 99% of water investment comes from BILLS. Take 2 mins to complain to Ofcom and the BBC vist.ly/5d5xb
