Many reporters assume that tripartite includes the province because it does in most cases. But in this case, the third party is the Toronto Port Authority (a federal crown corporation). Now, the province in Bill 110 seized the city’s stake in the agreement, so now the province not city is included.

Worth remembering: The feds were initially more favourable than not toward some manner of Billy Bishop expansion, but then left it to Doug Ford to make the case, and…here we are.

I tire people of this argument that Carney cannot stand up for Canada versus Alberta on the Canada Health Act. From "progressives" even. If this is not a hill to die on, what is? Public Health Care is one of the main things that makes Canada a great country to live in!

This could be the start of Carney stacking the senate with people who will vote in favour of his pro-corporate reforms. The senate is one of the few places where his legislation is still slightly scrutinized. Given Carney’s other actions, it would make sense he’d want to remove that “barrier.”

Trudeau tried to move away from Senate appointments as rewards for the prime minister’s own political benefit. As Stephen Maher noted on Twitter, this appears to be a return to that pre-Trudeau era of senate seats being gifts. What does Carney get? Potentially, a byelection he can win.

At this point I’m almost wondering if a Conservative minority government would’ve been less harmful, if only because they’d be less effective at implementing the same policies. The pushback would be louder, there’d be checks and balances. But Carney is bulldozing Canada with conservative reforms…
