Alberta Energy Rebate Program emailed me, I have not submitted my application and there is a new payment method available, Interac e-transfer using info from my 2025 CRA NOA. They have all the info why can't they just send $$. But $100 could buy us a couple of steaks. Torn.

"GM and SAIC say they will jointly develop new electric vehicles and intelligent vehicle technologies, even as President Donald Trump has repeatedly warned that Chinese EVs pose national security risks because of the data they collect and transmit." Very interesting read! 👇

GM Deal with China Exposes Trump Hypocrisy Toward Canada SAIC is state-owned. GM has been in a joint venture for ~30 years. Now the JV's extended for 20 more years. That ok but Canada's diplomatic relationship with China is "evil"? #cdnpoli #uspoli markhamhislop.substack.com/p/gm-deal-wi...

Huh? "Most of us have probably accepted that fact. What other option is there? So it gets rationalized. It’s only a few days. The wind will come and skies will clear. Let’s hope for rain. Let’s hope communities are saved." What other option? Transitioning away from fossil fuels decades ago maybe.

This is genuinely astonishing: a piece by the Globe and Mail’s editorial board lamenting the “new normal” of wildfires and summer smoke and no mention whatsoever of a) climate change, or b) the burning of fossil fuels that causes it. #cdnpoli www.theglobeandmail.com/opinion/edit...

How about: 💔👇 "What's the province done to cause this?" "The memo said a recommendation for the city to advocate for additional supervised consumption services or overdose prevention sites is “no longer applicable” with provincial policy directions leading to the closure of sites in Alberta."

"Ms. Vokurka said it is “very difficult to believe” that the Métis Nation’s project will be finished without additional funding. “It’s very challenging. The government left us holding the bag here, and it’s not our fault.” Two contractors .. said they had not been paid in months."

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith said construction on 3 recovery centres on Indigenous land will soon finish on budget, subcontractors facing stacks of unpaid invoices doubt it. Plus: One Indig group fired its contractor www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/artic... w @tomcardoso.bsky.social

And for Canadians across this land, it is a kick in the teeth to call this climate bomb of a project “in the national interest”. It is in Big Oil’s interest for sure.

What is our government doing? This project defies common sense - this is corporate welfare on a surreal scale, giving a gift to an industry making $90 billion in excess profits this year, and which still refuses to pay for its own infrastructure.

Corporate media in the age of monopolization isn’t worried about ratings or views, those are secondary to appealing to oligarchs and corporations who will supplement lost viewership in order to ensure control of mainstream discourse and the information diet of politicians and parties

I hear Carney using Smith’s line when she just blatantly lies & gets caught. Prime Minister Mark Carney did not explicitly admit to lying, but he acknowledged he "imperfectly" described the Gordie Howe International Bridge revenue deal after the released text contradicted his initial statements.
