Damn. These are *noon* temperatures the day after record highs were set. We may be looking at a major high temperature forecast bust across the front range urban corridor today. Some locations may only end up a few degrees above the record low maximum for today.

In the outside chance anyone recognizes this vehicle or license plate, please let me know. Fucker nearly caused a multi car accident and then maliciously tried to run me off the road after flipping him off for it.
Time to add another formerly respected institution to the garbage pile, this time @aau.edu, which just worked with the Trump admin to endorse resegregation in high education, embedding MAGA fraudsters as faculty, and banning student expression. www.bloomberg.com/news/article...
Here’s the thing that frightens me. Everyone executed their roles almost perfectly in the response to these fires and it was still this bad. Everyone. Responders, city, county and fed officials. Detection and warning systems. Everyone did their jobs very well. This was a best case outcome.
The front page of this morning’s Spokesman-Review, Aug. 2, 2026, the day after one of the worst wildfires in Washington state history. More than 600 structures, mostly homes, have been lost in the #OldTrailsFire. Read local news.
Gawddddd...enough of this shit already. It's been a whole goddamn month straight of this, with hardly any rain!
Republicans pretty much only lie. That this basic reality isn’t plainly clear for a healthy majority of Americans means that our establishment press is full of liars as well.
This, except, for "medical professionals," substitute any of •black people •brown people •immigrants •liberals •democrats •poor people •sick people The list goes on.
Considering how badly Covid was mishandled, they're probably going to regret the decision to make Fauci's personal diary and journal public. We're going to see how it was handled from the insider, from Fauci's point of view... based on you know...science.
I'm reminded of a George Carlin quip with a similar context: "It's just one more way of reducing your liberty and reminding you that they can fuck with you any time they want...as long as you put up with it...which, of course, means anytime they want."
This is how they operate. But also, they probably still see a silver lining in this. They still.made that poor man's life a living hell for several weeks. That. The frightening. The anxiety. The forced action of the accused. That's still their victory. "Fuck with us" and we'll make your life hell.
Today is the 50th anniversary of the Big Thompson flood of July 31, 1976: one of the deadliest disasters in Colorado history. An intense rainstorm led to a rapid flood wave down the canyon where many people were commemorating Colorado's centennial. 144 people lost their lives. #cowx 1/
Shouting into the ether here, but am back to again tap down the 90°F dew point talk over Iowa earlier this week. Lots going on here with this plot, but it isn't corn, it is just bad data. Don't overthink it.
I am too old to tap down the 90/90 talk. Please, get out your slide rule and compute how much water that is, even assuming a very shallow mixed layer above a corn field. Even if 90/90 was right for a corn field, this is way outside of the perf range of the sensor w/ 10 mile viz ob, case closed...
This shit has exploded over all of the unsodded areas of my property in the past month.
The censorship of giphy continues. Searching for "trump epstein" or "epstein trump" showed the famous gif of them partying together. All of these gifs have been removed and the search-term has been white-washed. Same with January 6th gifs. They're trying to rewrite / bury history.

@didtherockieslose.com I don't know what the hell is going on with your account, but you need to tone this down.
Okay, I fixed this. It took way too much coding to deal with random missing obs. Running precipitation anomaly in Denver over the past 10 years. A 31-year sample of daily data (from 40 to 10 years back) is used to define the climatology.
Kirk Ferentz enters his 28th season at the helm of Iowa, the longest tenured coach in FBS, and winningest coach in Big Ten history.
More updates on the anomalous year that is 2026 in Denver (meteorologically). Daily max temperatures so far in 2026 along with an annual cycle of the statistical distribution of daily highs over the past 30 years. Circled stars indicate records. Histogram of percentiles (second image)

Trump’s extended posting spree yesterday suggests that he’s literally *psychotic.* But the press is too terrified or timid to report that.
Info-graphic of what I compute for max dew points over Iowa today along with period of record stats. NB: AI did the graphic design, but the data is all my handywork. Feel free to reuse as you wish.
Okay, some context. This is for Denver. Also attached are 2026's (so far) numbers. Using just the most recent 30 years as "climo" (not the same dataset as that used to define the anomalies in the quote-posted image), we're running about 0.75 standard deviations below the mean for precip this year.
Don't really need much context on this one. It's been a long dry spell, folks.
