New fansub release: In collaboration with @kinekovideo.bsky.social, we're proud to present the first-ever (proper) English-subbed release of Toei's "Future War 198X"—scanned in HD from a 35mm copy, now available on Nyaa.

40 years ago today. Personally, Robotech: The Movie is more than the sum of its parts. As a film, it's...not great. But as a landmark of the burgeoning anime market outside of Japan at the time, it's a significant indicator of the growing pains the business endured, to bring us where we are in 2026.

This Saturday (7/25) is the 40th anniversary of Robotech: The Movie's limited test run premiere. To celebrate, I'll be dropping an encode from a Domesday Duplicator capture of the PAL LaserDisc, along with a brand new HD recut, utilizing the disc's audio.

It is really interesting to see just how many companies, especially in tech, have completely forgotten the purpose they're supposed to serve, and their sole mission is "boost shareholder value". If you don't make something people want, you will fade away eventually.

Going to wind up w/ 2 physical copies of the Rave Racer 30th Anniversary Remix over the next 2 (or so) weeks from both PlayAsia, and a proxy service. If anyone is looking to buy one from a US based seller at cost, I'll have one available.

It doesn't *need* to? Tonally, it's been mildly jarring when the show and its respective characters have been included elsewhere (outside of Echo). Crossovers were always fun to read in print, but are a little trickier to pull off in more grounded, live action TV fashion, without the seams showing.

God forbid a show’s deepest aspiration isn’t to contort its narrative to force in cameos from characters they aren’t even responsible for and who don’t have something to contribute to their narrative deadline.com/2026/02/dare...

The latest installment of "The Anime Business" is live, and it's another banger. Members only, but well worth the $$$. Personally see this series every bit as important to the anime realm, as what Frank Cifaldi, Jeremy Parish, and others are doing for documenting video gaming's roots.

As our small team of QC Discord members were busy ripping the content of the discs for better accuracy in reporting issues, I factored in the task of an alternate (re)design of the case insert for the TV Series, which better represents what exactly is *in* it.

Oh boy, this one took a little while. In my latest for ANN, I take look into the game of Ru-Ru-Ru-Russian roulette that was the Dirty Pair Kickstarter campaign. From pandemic-related delays to company buyouts, Kei and Yuri had more than a few hurdles to clear on the road to release.

Took time, patience, a fair amount of luck, and a little $$$, but I've managed to get a PAL LaserDisc copy of Robotech: The Movie passed through a Domesday Duplicator. Not *perfect* (at least visually), but it didn't need to be. The audio however, is what makes it all worthwhile...

Not to be overshadowed by the Rave Racer announcement, this also is incredible news. Legend of the Mystical Ninja alone is a fantastic game, and to this day an amazing flex of the SNES hardware. Still one of my favorite OSTs.
