I’m at that stage of the cold where you’re feeling a lot better, but probably need at least one more rest day before getting back to it.
Otakon was awesome as always. Great seeing so many cool people. If you aren’t going to Otakon you should start going to Otakon.
You know what series I never hear anyone talking about these days? Keitai Sousakan 7. Yeah, it’s about anthopomorphized cell phones from nearly 20 years ago. It’s silly, but there was a great list of directors, too (including Miike Takashi, Oshii Mamoru, and Kaneko Shusuke).
I had to highlight this tribute to Mamoru Oshii's live action film "Stray Dogs - Keberos Panzer Cops" in the new animated movie "Patlabor EZY - File 1". They literally recreated almost all of the shots from the original 1991 trailer.
Things I’ve been made aware of: Watanare’s anime scriptwriter, Naruhisa Arakawa, is also known for writing Kamen Rider Kuuga. During production, he told Watanare’s author that he loved yuri and hoped that the show would lead to him working on more yuri. So yeah, Kuuga is a defender of the lesbians.
RIP Katsushi Murakami (1942-2026). A legendary designer for many tokusatsu & anime series (Gavan, Bioman, Giraya Ninja, Ulysse 31, Space Adventure Cobra, Gatchaman...), and toys. x.com/Alien_anvil/...
Wish I could’ve been Utena for longer, but boy was humidity making my brain sweat. Well, hopefully I’ll be at a chillier con and have a much cooler wig next time I’m looking for rose brides in my area.

I spent most of Otakon behind the Discotek booth, which was fun, but unrelenting. Actually, that’s a great way to sum up the weekend. Being able to bring you guys joy is the best feeling in the world. Second best feeling: napping through most of today
