#Queer writer of #YA and spec fic. Expect lots of Star Trek. Failing to meet the demands of capitalism since 1969. Trans rights or I’ll vaporize you w/a lvl16 phaser. Can I pet your dog? https://jeffrey-ricker.com/links/ and https://ko-fi.com/jeffreyricker

“The climate emergency kills,” he said on Monday. “And that’s why it’s not enough to address the consequences, which we do; what we have to do is reduce its causes, anticipate its effects, and, consequently, better prepare our country to protect people’s lives.”

If anyone scrutinized how my bookshelves are “organized,” they’d be appalled. They just aren’t. I have two freestanding bookcases and one built-in bookcase. The built-in’s shelves are random heights (no idea why; it’s an old house), so books go where they fit. How do I find things? Oh, you.

You can take the bookseller out of the bookstore, but... Mass Markets first, because I use stacked-shelving to get two rows on each shelf, alphabetical. Then Fiction, starting with anthologies by editor, then alpha by author. YA at the end, alpha by author. Nonfiction on separate shelves, by type.

This game is the highlight of my week whenever we play. My character’s a Betazoid security officer, so while all my colleagues are “Let’s science our way out of it!” I’m over here going “How do I keep all these people from getting themselves killed?” #StarTrekAdventures

Later this morning, the USS Bellerophon will be closing out their season with "Prism" (from @modiphius.bsky.social's wonderful Shackleton Expanse campaign) and I’m basically making a bunch of notes about NPCs and motivations because I’m fairly certain it will not go to plan. ;) #StarTrekAdventures

A squared-off capture from one of the beautiful images in the Shackleton Expanse guide from Modiphius of a pink-hued sky with a large planet dominating the horizon. The foreground is make up of basalt-pillars with blue lines following geometrical lines and patters up the spire lengths, which turn to more rough rock closer to the bottom. Text in a TNG-like blue font reads: Episode Twenty-Two: "Prism"

If you are a @theguardian.com reader you wouldn’t know that the largest ever gathering of trans people in history yesterday was protesting against the Burnham government’s transphobic hate-policies. It had an article about making an omelette though.

150,000 marched yesterday in London for trans rights. Opened the Sky News app. Scrolled and scrolled. Nothing. BBC News app. Nothing. Guardian app. Nothing. This is what actual silencing looks like.

A5: My anniversary is next weekend & I'd love some tips to help me and my spouse celebrate. We're at 13 whole years! It's my favourite number, other than 42, and IDK if we'll live long enough to hit that one so I definitely want to celebrate this one! Tip jar below #WeeknightWriters

Q5: What can we, the Weeknight Writers community, do in the next week to make your life a little more pleasant? #WeeknightWriters

Notepad that says “#WeeknightWriters

What can we do in the next week to make things a little more pleasant for you?”

We were on vacation last week, but this week has felt like recovering from the vacation. I’ve been low on energy/motivation to write, so I’ve been doing small bits daily and focusing on other stuff, including some research for a… personal project (said like a villain). #WeeknightWriters

Q1: How are you holding up this week? (Or not holding, as the case may be) #WeeknightWriters

How are you holding up during this tumultuous time?”
