Mayor Zohran Mamdani announces that New York City is issuing cease and desist letters to more than 40 retailers selling illegal e-bikes (generally, vehicles that can go faster than local speed limits allow). The targeted retailers include Amazon and Best Buy.

This is going to be a slow burn story that gets people more and more angry the more they hear about it. Some asshole billionaires are blowing holes in the Moon, a thing everyone loves.

Yes, and this is why car bloat is caused by regulatory failure. If other cars on the road are bigger than yours, it's reasonable to want a bigger one. Rinse, wash, repeat—and you end up with America's enormous SUVs and pickups. Decades of inaction from NHTSA + Congress enabled this.

This date (April 15th) was one of the few times NYPD responded and did any enforcement on this block. NYPD Traffic wrote 6 summonses in the 600 block of 46th st 45 minutes later and noted "accompanied by 18th pct". Three summonses for sidewalk parking.

I have reported cars on the sidewalk at this location over 100 times. I have receipts. @lindseyboylan.bsky.social as I consider order to rank candidates (and you are the only one on 🦋) how would you address this class of issue.

Tragic - but there are two things to point out. 1 - this UPS driver is parked illegally in a painted pedestrian island blocking the critical sight line 2 - 60th street is so wide approaching this intersection (50ft) that it has a 20ft wide parking lane.

DOT published a late update to the streets master plan at beginning of this yr - said they built 18.2 of 50 mandated miles of protected bike lanes. Data is now published - and the count was 13.48mi of Greenway and Protected Class 1 bike lanes added in 2025. Eric Adams was a fraud.
