It makes no sense for the police to be allowed to do this. But if we’re going to do it, let’s let another dept have a turn. I propose public works gets as much money as they can spend in the interest of safety - walk/bike/traffic calming infrastructure.

Also - a "temporary EZ pass travel account" still charges toll by mail prices, not the EZ Pass price. ridiculous. also, useless. even worse - A NY temporary EZ Pass travel account apparently doesn't work for the whole EZ pass network - it only works for NY & PANYNJ tolls. So that was also useless.

Royal Bay in Colwood, BC comes to mind as an example of a developer that tried to do bike-friendly (and generally much nicer) sprawl and (imo) mostly succeeded

There is apparently no appetite among greenfield devs for even modestly human centered design. No street trees? No street grids? No walking paths/green belts? No bike lanes? Nothing? The same exact topography from a century ago?
likewise, despite its reputation amongst urbanism circles as sprawl-hell, Calgary's trail network is genuinely quite impressive and continues to get built out alongside new subdivisions (dark blue = trails/protected bike lanes)

It’s much the same in Alberta. Police and traffic safety orgs have been doubling and tripling down on PSAs about speed limits since the province banned speed cameras. Crashes and fatalities are up, meanwhile the government’s priorities are increasing highway speed limits and removing bike lanes.

A small disgusting detail here is one of the mix of headlines tossed on the screen as evidence of e-bike danger is about a bike rider being killed by a driver. Another is the photo of cop cars parked on the sidewalk being used as a generic illustration of "responsible agencies". Nasty work.
