Wow, polling shows 66 percent opposed to County sales tax before hearing any messages about it.
🧵TGIF! 😀Folks, I make lots of public records requests and one I submmited a couple months ago uncovered a San Diego County government-commissioned polling on potential tax hike options.

Gratuitous use of the word "quiet" or "quietly" has become one of the most blatant AI tells for me.
California bans landlords from rejecting housing vouchers, but the law only works if someone checks. A nonprofit's undercover calls caught Greystar, the nation's biggest landlord, allegedly turning voucher holders away in Oceanside. thecoastnews.com/landlord-gre...

Here are all 98 Democrats who voted *against* the amendment to cut military aid to Israel. As well, the 10 Democrats who voted "present":
An amazing quote from Lindsey Graham in this Atlantic story. It really captures an essential truth about politics that too few people ever really come to terms with. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

We don't have to react to every idiot's wildly unrealistic thesis.
Yet another reason why I don't expect the county sales tax to pass in November. Most voters don't know or care that the city and county are different entities.
Important update from Mariana Martínez Barba: Voters intended for Measure C dollars to be added on top of the city of San Diego's existing homelessness budget. Instead, it’s being used to make up the city’s deficit.
SDPD helicopter announcements unintelligible as usual. If I want to see text versions, I have to make an X account and consume pro-ethnic cleansing propaganda. Average “Democrats hold every elected position in city government for years” outcome.
here is what i think: we're not consumers or spectators, we are participants with agency. you should not hope that democrats will do anything. you must work to force them to do the right thing. the odds are long, but we are far from the first americans to face long odds. we will win.
you know, when someone says something like "these are the things that need to be done to avert disaster" and your response is "you think democrats will do that?!?" all you're telling me is that you think politics is a spectator sport
I cannot imagine what would possess someone to go to court and put on the record that they got mad and tried to fire a reporter because the live shot - which it’s alleged the reporter staged- had a “fuck ice” sign in the background. current.org/2026/06/form...

San Diego FC is planning a Taiwanese Heritage Night AND a Chinese Heritage Night this season.
It's disturbing, and the fact that many elected officials and local government agencies still use it as the main place to post their official updates is indefensible at this point.
Lurked on X this week to do some reporting. It's stunning how ugly it is there. Saw a Blaze reporter call a Landers' staffer a "fa***t." A Daily Wire reporter wants to abolish mosques. Nearly every reply thread to posts by black or Jewish people quickly descended into raw racism or antiSemitism.
I mean this with full sincerity: this is legitimately what activists should be calling for. Not "defund" or "abolish" or some grand demand that won't work. Specific, highly-supported incrementalism works. The right does it constantly. You can too. "Make cops shooting dogs illegal." Just say that.
Any cop who shoots a dog should be jailed immediately for a minimum of ten years.
This is the way - use the power you have. Rep. Levin threatens to take away the Supreme Court's budget if they don't adopt a binding code of conduct to stem corruption. Demand, and make them tell you no. Then make consequences happen. And the public will be on your side, if they have seen the rot.
Congress controls the Power of the Purse, and therefore the Court’s funding. If the Court will not adopt a binding code of conduct with real recusal review on their own, I support withholding their funding until they do.

Interesting to see the second home tax measure in San Diego doing so badly. At least in part this has to be down to the fact that nobody trusts our mayor and council with money. they’ve given people no reason to believe they won’t just give all the taxes raised right to the cops.
