We're in federal court today to stop the nation’s first religious public charter school from being established in Oklahoma. Charter schools are public schools and must serve students of all religions.
Most of all I think of the child screaming in this video, because this event is life-altering-dramatic for this child. Imagine what it’s like for this child; her entire life & perspective instantly and tragically changed. She saw the toll it took on her mother. Children shouldn’t have broken hearts.

It’s very simple: until social consciousness experiences the suffering of the other as “my own suffering” (as though it was happening to me or someone I love) society will continue to remain apathetic to the very things that turn the world into a horrible place to live.
Tyranny occurs in society, simply when an individual in political power, can do whatever they want without democratic opposition. Hence, their actions are above the law, or considered to be the law itself.
The news is discouraging today. But all the evil in the world cannot make goodness, and a world without the good: truth, justice, honestly, kindness, fairness, isn’t worth living in. The good is its own power, it merely has to be, it doesn’t have to pretend to be what it is not.
As predicted, Susan Collins comes out against Blanche. Don’t make too much of it. The R leadership okayed it b/c they have a vote to lose and b/c Collins in a tight race in Maine, in which Ds have won last several presidential elections. But they can’t lose another. All eyes on Cassidy and Murkowski
NEW: Judge Allison Burroughs in Massachusetts is *pissed* at DOJ. She does not hold back, calling out DOJ's bad-faith litigating in the TPS cases, in addition to the overarching "shameful cruelty" of what the Trump administration is doing. From her latest order in the Somalia TPS case:

the administrative stay, early next week. Should Defendants return to the First Circuit prior to
that as they threaten in their motion, the Court will assume that it has lost jurisdiction, which will
delay its rulings.

This is not a surprise. While there are non-frivolous legal arguments for these laws, they were always going to be an uphill battle given the Supremacy Clause. So far, no state mask ban aimed at ICE has been successful. That leaves it to Congress alone to rein in the highly unpopular use of masks.

No one asked for this cynicism but here it is: the MAGA voters who are now tolerating and celebrating the encroachments of the totalitarian, Republican state on our freedoms, are only going to become more extreme and supportive of the violence of fascism.

That's so notwithstanding the core of the tax amnesty remains, and as a bogus windfall to Trump in return for ....zero.
