There’s a small circle of crypto billionaires and foreign speculators who look at British politics and see an opportunity to make money. And right now, they're bankrolling Nigel Farage's Reform UK to achieve their commercial ends 👇 www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Revealed: George Cottrell transferred $2m to his mother days before her donations to Reform UK

Exclusive: Sources say Fiona Cottrell told bankers the transfers, received 24-72 hours before her donations to Reform, came from her son

Despite strong age restrictions on pornography, this research shows that social media platforms are still showing sexualised content to children. That’s why the government’s social media ban needs to stay on track to ensure children can be protected. www.thetimes.com/uk/technolog...

Our @bmj.com editorial sums up why physical punishment should be outlawed everywhere: decades of research shows it harms children in numerous ways, it increases the risk of physical abuse, and it violates children’s human rights. There are no benefits. @ucliehc.bsky.social @nuffieldfoundation.org

"Physical punishment is universally harmful to children and ineffective as discipline." Children should have the same legal protection from assault as adults www.bmj.com/content/394/...

🧵I’d rather spend my weekends doing something else than post about Nigel Farage’s murky finances, but his behaviour poses such a threat to our democratic norms that I wanted to flag a number of points in the public interest.

This powerful reporting by Harriet Grant shows there needs to be a strengthening of the law when it comes to written child sexual abuse material. Emily is a victim and it’s absurd to say she isn’t. The huge breach of trust and psychological harm is clear. www.theguardian.com/society/2026...

40 years after Britain built our last long-duration electricity storage, we’re building again. With a new generation of cutting-edge batteries & pumped hydro, we’ll store more clean power, reduce waste, protect families from fossil fuel price shocks so we can drive down bills.

Kemi lost her head at PMQs - and afterwards too. It's not the first time. She's compared me to a Gestapo officer. I wonder what it is about a working class woman driving record investment in state schools by ending private schools' tax breaks that the Tories hate so much.

The Gestapo marched hundreds of thousands of innocent people to their deaths. I've ended private schools' tax breaks to invest in state schools. No responsible leader makes vile comparisons like this. Kemi Badenoch is not fit to be Prime Minister.

A quote from a Kemi Badenoch interview in the Spectator, comparing Bridget Phillipson to a Gestapo officer.

Keir Starmer transformed the Labour Party and secured a historic victory in 2024 - one which has helped us to deliver huge changes. An end to the two child benefit limit, a new child poverty strategy and big steps forward to tackle violence against women and girls.

Big game for England tonight. But as well as looking at xG for predicted goals we need to think about tonight's xV: the ‘Expected Violence’ against women. During tournaments like the World Cup, stats show that domestic abuse can rise 26% when England win, 38% when they lose. 👇

📱 I’ve been campaigning for stronger protections for children online for many years, so I was pleased to hear the Secretary of State for Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, Liz Kendall MP, recognise that work in Parliament yesterday. 👇
