🗣️ The Committee's message to Government is loud and clear: it is time to stand up to industry and move forward with a bold new approach to tackling obesity. This is vital for cancer prevention given that obesity is linked to 13 cancers and is the 2nd leading cause of preventable cancer in the UK.

World Cancer Research Fund is tackling health misinformation this Cancer Prevention Action Week. From supplements and “superfoods” to restrictive diets and alcohol claims, misleading information can divert attention from what we know reduces cancer risk.  It's time to prioritise science.

Great blog from @ias.org.uk setting out that public awareness of alcohol as a carcinogen increases support for the most effective policies, including pricing and availability policies. This is one of the reasons @wcrf.org is calling for a cancer warning on forthcoming alcohol labels in the UK.

Looking forward to working on this consultation! It presents a valuable opportunity to strengthen current restrictions on junk food marketing and promotions so that they meaningfully protect children's health rather than industry profits.
