To do Mature Politics requires compromise, which requires sacrifice. We live in a world built on bloodshed and suffering and so to do politics the smart way requires adopting a certain amount of that, so what these people want is someone they can sacrifice who will thank them for the privilege
In every interaction with this sort of person, they'll tell you that they don't hate trans people, and I think they may even believe that they don't hate them, they wouldn't go out of their way to hurt them just because, what they want is a framework that justifies their own view of Mature Politics
It's abundantly clear that a lot of people want a permanent subaltern victim class they can abuse and exploit (sexually and otherwise), and are happy for trans people to fill that slot. This particular liberal pathology extends it to electoralism where they want a happy sacrifice to the vote gods

My online girlfriend was so shocked by the Ukraine drone strike on the Russian data centre that she's been too upset to message me all day.
I double-checked this on a couple of Xitter stat sites and it's true. Average views of the main AfD account dropped 90% and average engagement dropped by 60%. This is commercial social media for you: bots, damn bots and Russian bots.

Immediately after Ukraine took out two of the five data centers run by the Russian tech giant Yandex, pro-Trump and pro-MAGA posts on American social media sites plummeted. The same happened to posts boosting Germany's far-right AfD. Russia is engaged in MASSIVE election interference.
The more combative Dems get, the more of this they will run into. It will be a coordinated wave of elite opinion, scolding them, tamping them down. The fight strategy *only* works if they are willing to bull their way through it, blow it off, mock it. (Their history does not raise one's hopes.)
