I don't think this is the case, nor do I think this conclusion is anything other than what our opponents want us to draw. They don't have the people, but authoritarians do have the ability to build fear, and you have to fight that fear if you want to not become overwhelmed by the enemy.

Today it's the airports, but soon ICE will be omnipresent in our lives unless they are stopped. Public spaces. The polling place. You name it. This is textbook authoritarianism and as long as the corruption of liberal democracy continues there will be more and more power vacuums for the fascists.

Five years ago, Donald Trump instigated a violent insurrection in the Capitol to prevent Congress from certifying Joe Biden the winner of the 2020 election. The fact that the GOP coddled him, protected him, renominated him, and now support him in office, is a stain that will never be erased.

If you’re an elected Democrat (rightly) complaining about the GOP kicking 17 million people off of Medicaid, now is a good and credible time to critique the entire broken work-based non-universal US healthcare system. Now is the time to call for universal healthcare, for Medicare for All.

the republican party is a modern day Slave Power and the only way forward for this country is to sweep it into the ash heap of history

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE. This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined. It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

This is an assault on the Reconstruction Amendments by a Neo-Confederate Court wedded to the far-right argument that those amendments were illegitimate and destroyed the original intent of the Founders, which was to create a white man's country

Gonna level with you bro I think DHS needs to be dissolved after this. Regardless of what national security functions fall under its remit, it's clearly institutionally constructed in such a way allows it to be used as an unaccountable tool of executive power. Can't reform your way out of that.

If we're ever going to have a chance of rebuilding from this mess, the left-right axis is far less important than the fight-don't fight axis. Moderates who are willing to do whatever it takes to recover from Trumpism are far more valuable to the left than "leftists" who just care about their seats.

Abolish ICE It was absolutely the right call 7 years ago, and more so now, with nightly reports of violent raids gone awry, strip-searching tourists, and snatching student op-ed writers How America created a secret police, and how to get rid of it. My new column www.inquirer.com/opinion/ice-...

Human rights nightmares show ‘the crazies’ who wanted to abolish ICE were right | Will Bunch

The nightly parade of horror stories about an American secret police prove the current system is broken beyond repair.

The only appropriate response to this is impeachment and removal from office. Every moment the political press spends spinning out theories about 2026 and immigration polling is a minute they are not spending asking Republicans in Congress about their plans to enforce the rule of law

A screenshot of a tweet by the official White House account.

Text: “Fixed it for you, @NYTimes.
Oh, and by the way, @ChrisVanHollen - he's NOT coming back.”

There is also a screenshot of the front page of the NyT with a large headline and photo about Van Hollen meeting with Abrego Garcia. They have edited the headline with red ink handwriting to say “ Senator meets with deported ms-13 illegal alien in El Salvador who’s never coming back.”

There's a reason ICE agents wear masks in the street. From Kristi Noem's war-crime propaganda to the airport officers harassing innocent tourists, the MAGA deportation regime is not just immoral but increasingly criminal Someday, there must be justice. My new column www.inquirer.com/opinion/comm...

When this is over, U.S. rights abusers must be tried for crimes against humanity

Escalating reports of human rights crimes from Kristi Noem's propaganda to ICE cruelty must be wiped clean with justice.

Today I confronted “border czar” Tom Homan who came to Albany to do Trump’s bidding — push for mass deportations, carry out the assault on working class New Yorkers, and justify the unjustifiable detention of legal permanent resident and father-to-be, Mahmoud Khalil.

NEW from me: With House Republicans passing a partisan, damaging continuing resolution that gives Donald Trump and Elon Musk free rein to continue to strangle appropriated spending, Senate Democrats have to decide whether they will actively participate in their institution's own destruction.

Senate Democrats’ Choice: Block the Republican Spending Bill or Dissolve Congress

The House’s continuing resolution would effectively hand over spending decisions to Donald Trump and Elon Musk.

GLENN: Why don't you wear a suit? You're at the highest level in this country's office & you refuse to wear a suit. A lot of Americans have problems with you not respecting the office. ZELENSKYY: I will wear a costume after this war will finish. Maybe something like yours. Maybe something better.
