TTRPG creator. Writing. Design. Layout. Currently line manager of Cyberpunk for R. Talsorian Games. I wrote a sixty page book on rope use for Pathfinder 1e. It could have been longer. He/him.

Just saw a video in which one of the hosts of a show said, essentially, “I talk shit about game X because it helps me sell my game.” Comparisons are inevitable but if your pitch slams someone else’s work to prop up your own, it’s either jerk behavior or a game that can’t stand by itself.

I’ll be at Gen Con working at the R. Talsorian Game booth next week. I’ll also be running a completely improvised game with the help of Single Player Mode.

Back in the office, & my contributor copy of this beauty just arrived: Cyberpunk RED: Night City 2045! 🌃 I'm immensely proud of the work & getting to help shape Night City with a fantastic crew of chooms. Did I add my kid, gunslingers, a pop-up horror nightmare, and more? Damn right I did. 😎

Random France thoughts continue: * Much of what I saw of the cities I visited didn’t seem particularly wheelchair friendly, possibly because it was all older then the US. * On the other hand, it did seem tailored to help blind pedestrians, with crossing song boxes and floor textures.

More random France observations: * Anyone who speaks about a monolithic French culture obviously ignores history. In this one small city there are Roman, Italian, Germanic, and Gaulish influences, all working together. * Cold slices of meat (about a 3 cut on a deli slicer) for breakfast are nice.

Random thoughts about France part three: * Some hotel rooms require you to slot a keycard in order to prove you are present in the room. Otherwise, the lights won’t turn on. I’m told any stiff card will do. * Driving in Paris looks frustrating as hell. * The green pharmacy LED signs are neat!

More random Paris thoughts: * The metro system is lovely. Yea, crowded at times, but easy to navigate. Especially compared to NYC. * I saw scooter repair shops just on the street. People repairing them in what could be a normal store. Fascinating. * Young Parisians love their graffiti.

Random thoughts about France: * The caps of bottles don’t come off easily, making it easier to reseal them. * Paper straws here are sturdier than paper straws in the States. * The separation between markets and pharmacies is fascinating.

Wandering around the museums of Paris, I’ve come to the conclusion that sculptors of days gone by were afraid to vaginas. Every one as featureless as a Barbie.

By the way, if you’re a fan of Mike Pondsmith’s due to his work on Cyberpunk, I suggest checking out Castle Falkenstein. It truly is his best writing and concept work, in my opinion.

People in airports must be the greediest seat hogs in existence. Family next to me is three people. Taking up six seats. Two of them are just backpacks that could easily be a single seat.

The layoffs at XBox are bullshit. The goals spouted by the CEO are impossible, especially with fewer creatives. I can only hope that this portends a move away from mega publishers who gobble up small studios only to ruin their style and flow with greed-drive demands.

Pacifica Playground’s look was based on Orlando. Once you move away from the illusion of magic, much of it can seem gaudy and cheap, with confusing traffic patterns and neon signs years out of date. Bad Moon Art did a fantastic job.

A building named Smile Another Day on a gaudy street with lit up buildings and search lights in the distance.

When we worked on the core rulebook for Cyberpunk RED, Mike described Night City University as a fortified monastery of education. For NC2045 we expanded on the idea. A campus of piecemeal buildings under assault and ready to defend itself. There might be a metaphor there! By Richard Bagnall.

A collection of buildings behind a fence and barricades. Gangers are attacking while turrets fight back.

With North Heywood, we wanted to focus on a feel of rustbelt noir suburb life. What better for that than a decaying shopping plaza hanging on by its fingernails while violence ensues? This piece is by Neil Branquinho.

Three hooded and masked people beat a sparking victim in a decaying shopping plaza parking lot.
