Jared Kushner is not "on the other side of the aisle." He's not an elected official. He's not an administration official. He's the president's son-in-law and a private citizen. You do not, in fact, have to take meetings with relatives of the president. Some might even say you should *not* do that

Jeffries defends his meeting with Kushner: "I'm of the view that if we're going to be committed to actually solving problems on behalf of the American people ... they're are gonna be times that you have to speak with people on the other side of the aisle. Even people you strongly disagree with."

I know there's a final roundup to come, but I wanted to express big thanks to David and his delightful "Project-712" series of posts reflecting on Mark Guenwald's masterpiece "Squadron Supreme" series, and David's kind tolerance of me geeking out in the comments. I recommend the entire thread!

Happy Squadron Supreme Day! Over the past year, I have spent considerable time revisiting, reconsidering, and reflecting upon the champions of Earth-712. A lifelong admirer of the Justice League, acclaimed writer Mark Gruenwald recognized the potential in Marvel’s analogous team of heroes.

Note that Hassett’s and the Trump regime’s definition of “stay out of the way of elections” is “don’t do anything that will hurt our side’s chances, even if it is the reasonable thing to do” — the very opposite of Fed independence.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com · 13h ago

Hassett threatens Warsh: "I'd be wary of a rake hike. The Fed has had hiked rates ahead of an election only a couple times all the way back to 1913. So I think if you want an independent Fed, one thing the Fed does is stay out of the way of elections."

A genuinely totally fair sport would be a game of pure chance. When you start arguing about what is or isn't fair in sports, you better nail down what you mean by "fair" and why you think these arbitrary sets of athletic rules matter in the first place.

We learned a lesson we had forgotten and forgot again after. War is easy. It’s messy and dangerous and destructive but it’s easy. Especially against a weak enemy. Especially for those in power who aren’t risking their lives. What comes after war is hard. War without a plan for after is useless.

On the anniversary of a killing that led conservatives to demand the firing and punishment of hundreds of people for simply quoting Charlie Kirk verbatim, conservatives at the RNC in Dallas are shouting "He should be shot!" simply in response to the names of Democratic politicians being mentioned.

I miss the HTML Pyramid quite a bit, in a number of ways. But I also really miss that =era= of the Internet, when low-tech text reigned supreme, and very small sites could go toe to toe with the largest spots as far as cool places to visit every day/week.

Also, even if you don't want the Pyramid v2 archive for that adventure, you do want it for...well, massive amounts of other stuff. THOUSANDS of articles for a mere $50. It was also hella fun to write for and I do miss it so.

Remember the JUSTICE LEAGUE episode where Lex Luthor gathers a gang of super-criminals and promises to double, then triple their pay, but they all end up with nothing, except for the Ultra-Humanite, who sells out Luthor to Batman? Thinking about that this morning for some reason.

Re: Animated • Justice League “Injustice for All” – Part 1

This blog takes a look at episodes from the Justice League animated series from a tabletop roleplaying game perspective, both in terms of game design and game play. Obligatory Spoiler Warning: I wi…

Oh, so the guy who has declared bankruptcy multiple times to avoid his creditors, who is infamous for stiffing contractors, and who never pays his debts promised you a lil’ money? Sure. Sounds legit.
