This morning I started my journey reading @johngwynneauthor.bsky.social I love that first moment of entry into a writer’s universe. Always chasing the high I got from Martin and Abercrombie. Two chapters into Malice. My god. Exquisite.

Had a free afternoon, made a dumb low-effort video. Big love to @richardswanauthor.bsky.social and @grimdarkmagazine.bsky.social for making/publishing great work!

I started a YouTube channel this year to learn video editing and share my love for books 📚 By year’s end, I’ve made 10 videos with 191 views combined. Might not seem like a lot, but I’m deeply proud of every single view, and can’t wait to create more videos in 2025. Happy New Year when it comes! 🥳

Happy birthday to his August fucking majesty @joeabercrombie.com Started a review channel in August this year and of the 10 videos published, almost half the views come from a video about the big man. STILL a fresh voice in this goddamn genre! The video for context: youtu.be/kutM44D7EzU?...

By the dead, I'm 50 years old today, and my subversive maverick fresh punk sensibility remains undiminished.

Meant to post this on release day, but I have been rather ill. Anyway, if you fancy listening to your ol' pal Jimmy talk about a new book he loved (and can ignore his withering voice) then ROLL UP ROLL UP! Blood Brothers Beyond by @robjhayes.bsky.social youtu.be/AIN07p8_BW8

I love the iPhone “Year in Review”: Beautiful holiday photos mixed with countless door lock pics—just a little OCD flair.

Brrr, chilly one out there. Cancel those plans, ruddy-cheeked reader, it's time to coorie down somewhere warm and start a new book! You should try "Against All Gods" by @phokion.bsky.social - I made a silly wee video explaining why.

“A new age of exploration and innovation has dawned” Blessed by the gods over at Netgalley UK this morning, who approved my request for one of my most anticipated 2025 releases, by @richardswanauthor.bsky.social Ol’ Jimmy is eating good this winter!

Everybody is fighting a battle you know nothing about. You are, quite frankly, a piss-poor war historian

The Terminator 2 effect? Sometimes a sequel just hits different. A book 2 that just slaps from the get-go. Here are a few that I can still recall that acute feeling on first read, the feeling that the writer was finally cooking! Happy Saturday :)

OK, I'm bringing out the big guns to test Bluesky engagement😀 Repost & follow to be in the draw! One randomly selected person will get this signed (& dedicated) copy of the Locked Library special edition of THE BOOK THAT WOULDN'T BURN.

Writers - is there an acting performance that inspired a character in your book? Maybe the actor is headcanon for a dream adaption of your book? This one always gets me. Damian Lewis, Shakespeare, Julius Caesar. Sublime. Each time, sublime. youtube.com/watch?v=q89M...

A nice wee bit of art I got at the book launch of Bitter Crown by @authorjla.bsky.social a while back. It’s a classy move, extras like this, and makes you want to dive right into the story!

This feels like a very author community word. I love how much we build each other up and celebrate each other’s successes. This isn’t a competition, it’s a community. ♥️ JLA

Good morning. Word of the Day is as beautiful as it is underused. ‘Confelicity’ is finding joy in the happiness and success of others.

Been mulling over some of my favourite sentences from Against All Gods, @phokion.bsky.social Lots of references to cats in my highlights - this book really has it all. FAO: anyone who likes their gods Greek, this book is for you.

Anyone like steak pies? Perhaps also the works of @richardswanauthor.bsky.social? Well then, don’t I have a lovely little ditty for you: youtu.be/X31CiQp2aU8?...
