I recently realized that 2 of the projects I am most excited about are Rust-based: Zed and the new Cosmic Desktop Environment! I've been daily driving both, and they're awesome! Cosmic Alpha 6 should be out today, btw!

After that post, I went and tried a bunch of editors... My fav editor recently has been Zed! Fast and exiting! All their UX decisions just make sense. I rarely get excited about new code editors...but it's the case with Zed! I'm beyond excited for its future! Give it a shot and join the hype! :)

What's your code editor right now? If you didn't try Cursor or other similar editors...they're becoming better and better at helping us start new apps or unblock certain things. They're not so good yet with complex apps in my experience, but they're still super useful for many use cases.

This quick read is good food for thoughts; worth taking a couple of minutes of your time to read it! jimmyhmiller.github.io/discovery-co...

@rbarazi.bsky.social hey man! Been so long! Glad to find you here :)

Nothing like a good old post about code editors to get tons of responses haha No war, though, so that's good! :D I'll def give Zed and Windsurf a shot...and maybe Lazyvim, too!

This is good stuff! I discovered his channel a couple of months back, and I love his videos. Good stuff! Usually about Linux, dev tooling and some Linux ricing. Worth a subscribe on YT for sure! Thanks, nerd. Oh, and btw, he's using Arch.

Been feeling the urge to create lately. Not for money, just for fun. Started by building a Rails 8 foundation with everything I need: minimal styling, better scaffolding, Solid Queue, Rails 8 auth. One fork = new app ready to code! 🚀 #ruby #rails

I realize I'm late (2 days! Old news, right?)....but I LOVE this word. Describes so many things. It's perfect, right?

‘What many of us feel’: why ‘enshittification’ is Macquarie Dictionary’s word of the year

@jagthedrummer.bsky.social Hey Jeremy! Been a while :) I was just looking at Bullet Train a bit to see how active it still was and all, and I saw that you're working on it! Pretty cool!

Have you ever used Jumpstart Rails? I got a license last year, and found it awesome! It's a SaaS in a box, with Rails, the "Rails way". Add your business value right away. 🤌 I have some projects in mind I want to tackle...but I might want to open source them. Know any open source alternatives?

@mattdurr.com hey Matt! Just followed cuz @typeoneerror.com is following you AND the “anti-hustle”. Team calm companies! :)

@typeoneerror.com hey Ben! Glad to see you here! :) Is Marie also around?

Created a Solopreneurs & Indie Hackers Starter pack 🚀 Let me know if you are a Solopreneur or Indie Hacker and want to join the list. 👉 go.bsky.app/2gvhx68 If you're building, creating, or just starting your journey, this is for you.

Food for thoughts for indie makers / solopreneurs / founders if you want to maximize happiness: enjoy the journey. It’s so much fun! At least, that’s what worked for me. I made the journey the destination. Until I ended up selling. When I build a new SaaS, I’ll for sure focus on that again.

Started a starter pack here for indie devs currently between $100 to $10k MRR. (Also, to anyone reading this + the description fits, just comment and I'll add you 😀) go.bsky.app/TQD5E89

My website has not been updated in years. It's using an old version of Jekyll. I've been sick at home for a few days. Let's build a Rails blogging engine with Rails 8 + Tailwind 4. Of course, right?

I'm playing with Tailwind 4.0 right now in a new Rails 8 app (my soon-to-be-new website, probably), and I can say that I like it! .css config > .js config. It feels a lot more natural. Currently theming with Catppuccin Mocha colours. Loving it!

What’s a good markdown editor to use in a Rails app nowadays? Plain JS, no React.

I’ve been using Zen as my browser for a month or two now. It has some rough edges still, but it is the best browser (for me) so far since my move back to Linux!

Canada decided to give a tax break to citizens. From mid-Dec to mid-Feb. For some products only. Now all stores will need to tag all their items, for different tax amounts (cuz only Federal tax will be waived). Assuming their POS software will let them do this. With 3 weeks notice. 🤦

Any good starter pack for indie game devs? #Godot, or not.

That music is so iconic...this is tempting! Ok, time to change what's I'm listening to right now! 🤣

I'm happy to announce the 2nd Stardew Valley concert tour... Stardew Valley: Symphony of Seasons. This tour will features a larger orchestra, a different musical program, and more visual features. Please check the website for more info! stardewvalleyconcert.com

Just joined (and followed-all) this list of "indie founders." I'm loving these starter packs! I always hit "follow all," and I'm excited to be creating two-way communities of founders like Twitter should have been. bsky.app/starter-pack...

I had a convo with a marketer friend recently, about #contentmarketing for #SaaS in 2024. I was telling her that if I were to start a new business _right now_, I don't think I would use content #marketing ...at all! It doesn't feel like a safe investment anymore. What do y'all think? Am I wrong?

Tailwind 4.0 beta 1 is out. No downloads yet (been out for 2 minutes! haha) Good job @adamwathan.com & team. I look forward to giving it a shot in the next few hours or days! Doc is not up yet, but it should be soon, I'd assume.
