Sure maybe polling is over, or maybe don't rush to have too many takes about a Democratic race where almost all of the publicly available polling is either strategically released by one of the candidates or from Republican firms?

Republican power grabs in Kansas and Missouri are going down in flames with 18-25% of votes reported so far. Missouri's Amendment 4 aimed to make citizen-initiated constitutional amendments practically impossible. Kansas' Amendment 1 was designed to flip the state Supreme Court to ban abortion

texans valorize their early history with all the bad stuff in it when we should be valorizing the urbanization period when they pulled funny bits like "trick dumbass railroad lawyers into creating americas 9th largest city by nicknaming one of Dallas's parking lots something nice"

Celebrity editions of game shows are the best. they dare to imagine what would happen if people were not just bad at trivia, they were also bad at doing self-deprecating little improv bits about it at the same time

Every potential 2028 candidates is going to make mistakes and say dumb things between now and the 2028 DNC. One simple trick for doing this less: understand the MAGA brand is in the toilet. Do not put yourself within a mile of this Elephant's Foot of public opinion. yougov.com/en-us/articl...

one of the many things about biden that pissed off our society's elites is that his administration had started - in a pretty small-bore and limited way - prosecuting the people who had defrauded the PPP program and that happens to include a huge % of small business tyrant types

Shouldn’t be shocked at any lie RFK Jr tells, but he whined to Dana Bash that businesses were shut down during the pandemic “with no just compensation.” There was an almost trillion dollar PPP loan program, and his organization got millions from it, none of it paid back, to make payroll.

stripping OMB of the ability to dole out grants is an enormous win, this nukes the SAVE act, it prohibits further ICE bailouts, adding a "no, really, trump can't break already on-the-books laws regarding elections the federal government doesn't run" clause would be both unnecessary and unproductive

Patty Murray and Chuck Schumer decide to strike a “bipartisan” deal with … checks notes … Susan Collins to fund the Trump regime through December which appears to not to any include any safeguards against Trump’s meddling with midterm elections.

Screenshots of posts from Burgess Everett on X:

“The Senate's CR deal is out from Sens. Collins and Murray. Funds government through Dec. 11

Bill blocks a new rule that would allow the admin to cancel grants to, for example, blue states

Collins says the bill "prevents the Office of Management and Budget (OMB)’s proposed rule regarding federal financial assistance from taking effect"

Murray: "his bill blocks implementation of OMB’s corrupt new grants rule for the duration of the CR. The proposed rule would systematically politicize federal funding and allow Trump officials to cancel grants at any time for any reason."

“Bill also extends surface transportation programs through Dec. 11 (was set to expire Sept. 30

Also has health care extenders

Bottom line is this is going to kick a ton of stuff to Congress's lame duck”
